I am reminded how shit Nebula class Starfleet vessels are. I mean....really...

I like the Nebula class! It's just a Miranda with Galaxy design elements.

It's hyper-shit! It's like a 3 year old redesigned the Galaxy Class by mashing bits of the secondary hull up against an out-of-scale Saucer section! I can't believe it was used on screen! Awful! Fucking awful!

You fool. It took on three Romulan Warbirds in Voyager, rescued the crew of the Enterprise D and probably beamed a wart on to your foot. It is an excellent evolution and improvement on the naff Miranda class. Diss it not.

No, Phil, no. I've explained this to you before. It already is the right way up. It looks stupid the other way.

Karl appears to have a problem with his Galaxy Class Enterprise. It sits somewhat loosely in its stand, and as a result any vibration seems to cause it to work its way out and eventually drop off, at which point one of the warp nacelles springs loose and goes rattling off on its own. I was planning to keep it on my desk, but as I tend to be fairly hard on keyboards it means that every hour or so the accumulated vibration of my typing tends to cause a crash. I think I am going to have to find an alternative home for it, or the dockyard is going to start billing me for the work in reattaching the nacelle over and over...

It took me a week to get it to stay in the holder for more than a few seconds. Seems ok for now... Not the best of designs and I keep waiting for mine to fall too!

Shit is not the Nebula Class! The most awesome ship in the fleet is what the Nebula is!
'tis my absolute fave!

According to the cards in one of my big ring binders of Star Trek TNG CCG cards from my university days (I was rubbish at the game and more interested in collecting one of each card), the Nebula is a modern class of ship featuring large upper equipment modules customisable for specific mission uses. It is superior to the Miranda class in terms of range, weapons and shields, and has a holodeck.
I always liked them.

It is the shittest looking spacecraft in all science fiction fiction history in any medium. I hate it. You're all deeply wrong. I'd rather shove my arse up a monkey's mouth than get on board one of them.
In other news, my Enterprise-D sits very snugly in its stand. Perhaps I got lucky.

It is superior to the Miranda class in terms of range, weapons and shields, and has a holodeck. Given the length of time that separates them it would reflect poorly on the Nebula if it wasn't superior to its roughly equivalent precursor class I feel. :-) Not a fan of the Nebula class aesthetics myself. It's particular niche as a workhorse hull you can fit out to cover a range of mission types is very sensible, but I just don't like the look. There are too many other aesthetically pleasing vessels in Starfleet history to choose from (Ambassador class, Constellation class to pick just a couple) that it doesn't really register on my radar. That said, I don't really "hate" it - that takes more energy than I can must for the Nebula class (or for the Intrepid-class, which evokes a much stronger negative reaction in me). It is more of an "these things also exist for some reason". Karl

Absolute Favorites-
Nebula Galaxy Excelsior (Original and Refit) Olympic NX (For some odd reason. Like the looks, even if it's asthetics fits better post First Contact, than pre TOS) Miranda Runabouts Intrepid Romulan Scoutship Klingon BoP Romulan warships from Nemesis (Not Shinzon's) Abrahms Constitution Kelvin Oberth
Cool, but no real strong feelings for: Constitution refit Akira Defiant Constellation
Absolute least favorites/ugly: Ambassidor Kazon ships TOS Constitution
Just plain boring: Soveriegn Most Klingon ship
Nothing else really envokes any emotions from me one way or another.

I think my all time favourite has to be the Constitution refit.
I like the Miranda class, but now I know it was designed the other way up I can't help but think it looks so much better that way! (if you have a model, turn it nacelles up and compare to the Enterprise)
I liked the Excelsior but years of the same model shots in TNG dulled it's impact
Very fond of the Galaxy even if nobody can decide what colour it's meant to be. Love the Ambassador even though I know it's a cut n shut with a Galaxy saucer and nacelles on a Constellation refit hull. And the Nebula works for me.
I waver on the Intrepid class.... There's some decent ideas in there round the basic form of Saucer, secondary hull and twin nacelles
(an aside: Intrepid saucer on Nebula class hull?)
The Defiant has never really worked for me at that scale. To my eye it looks like a shuttle craft, or even a fighter, design that's been upscaled. I think it would have been fabulous as a smaller ship.
The original Klingon warships are a design classic, which is probably why their nacelle design was nicked for the movie era Federation ships. I thought the Bird Of Prey looked stunning on it's first appearance but years of overuse again have dulled it for me. My favourite enemy ship has to be the TNG Romulan Warbird. Beautiful.

Galaxy class all the way, baby!
I like Nebula class for the same reason, carrying through the design style to another class of ship, but I also like that the fleet still uses some much older classes of vessel. Undoubtedly for budgetary reasons, but at the same time it adds verisimilitude.
The Defiant is actually pretty small isn't it? Engineering is practically next to the bridge. I liked that there could be something between runabouts (which I also really like) and smaller starships.
I do agree on the TNG Warbird, that is a lovely design which I always enjoyed seeing on-screen.

Damnit. Now I know what I shall start to collect again post-PhD. The cards for the ST CCG were great!
Saw the Klingon bird of prey model issue out in WHSmiths. Not bad, certainly an improvement on the refit Enterprise the issue before but think I will pass this one as well.

What positions are the wings in and is it capable of varying geometry?

They are up. Don't know if they swing down. The cannons on the wings look like they are made of bendy rubber which put me off.

Saw the Romulan Warbird model yesterday and found it lacking; everything since the D has been quite the disappointment. Speaking of which, FP seemed to have dragged a pile of issue 1 out again - was someone here looking for it?

At least we got a good Enterprise-D for a bargain price though! I'd say the quality of the other models would be fine round the £6-7 area, but not for £10.
