I won't say no to one if it's at the launch price! It is; I'll pop in after work and see if they still have them. Nice to be in East Central London these days! -Jim

The others have looked poor. It's almost like the Enterprise D launch model had a significantly higher budget... Indeed. I guess this kind of model isn't one where you can reuse much engineering, otherwise I'd at least have some hope for the Nebula class release. As things stand it's going to look weird next to the Galaxy class. -Jim

Special Issue coming end of the month featuring a die cast Deep Space 9. Wasn't impressed at all with Voyager in the last issue. Will keep an eye out for the next as I would like a Katinga if it is any good.

I saw the Voyager. It really should have had the level of detail the Enterprise-D had considering the era it is from. A shame! It's not awful, must not worth a tenner.

Seem to be fewer shops around selling them now, but will keep my eye out on the next few. Not sure I could resist a Defiant even if crap.

To be honest I haven't seen this since the issue with the Enterprise-A, which didn't impress me. If the K'Tinga is coming up next then I might have a look at that and see if it us to snuff, but things do not sound promising there.

The Equinox and ferengi marauder are coming in march. Like i said previously, this is where the line will start to shine, when they start getting into ships anyone has barely touched, if at all. A spectacular E-D barely interests me, but even a mediocre Equinox really gets me excited.

K'Tinga spotted last night in a shop window I walked past. Too dark at that time of the night to get a proper look.

Had a look at it today in FP; pretty much as disappointing as the rest although compared to the Voyager next to it not too bad. That one is really a shame.

Hmm. If it is of the same quality as the refit-Enterprise I think I will skip it. I still have my Johnny Lightning D7 sitting aroud upstairs and an older ship is more reliable a poorly constructed newer one.

For me I think the worst thing has been the poor quality and limited colour variety. I could stomach a poorly detailed ship as long as the hull had a good colour rather than the very bland and washed out greens and greys we have seen so far which don't match the show colours. Voyager screamed "plastic toy" rather than "spaceship" especially.

Excelsior spotted today. It looks very sad. Some relative effort gone into the saucer but nacelles and engineering look dreadful.
Deep Space 9 on shelf as well but hidden in a box and for £19 we shall never know its kind in person.

I was intrigued by the idea of a nice DS9 model but it's being sold in a box with no windows. Given the variable quality of this series and the £19 price point I must pass. Are there are in-hand pics anywhere?

Trying to get the other half into 60's Trek. Naturally, I started with the camp classic that is SPOCK'S BRAIN.

Watched some classic Trek yesterday. Space Seed still rocks very hard. I love Khan's line "Please sit and entertain me." Greatest pick-up line of all time. One day I will find the opportunity to use it! One day! -Ralph If you are introducing your other half to Classic Trek be careful this doesn't come back to haunt you!

It wouldn't be my first choice, but Spock's Brain would be on my shortlist of episodes to show someone. I love it - a proper comedy script which all the cast know is a comedy and play it accordingly.

I got my first three today. The E-Refit, E-D, and BoP.
You guys had me pretty terrified about their quality. And while not the best (hugely disappointed the BoP's wings dont move), theyre not the worst thing ever. Given bbts charges i think only slightly more than you guys pay, its not bad for foreign line. Though like i said, my enthusiasm will kick up when they get into the rare ships. But thats not why I'm making this post.
Each ship is numbered for collectors, right? My refit enterprise is #1705.

Tempted by the Defiant that is currently out. Lools like a solid mold but still happened by the very limited colour palette.. and price tag.
Not helped by a still from the show just behind the model showing how lovely the ship can look with a couple of extra shades of grey (and some black highlights!) added.

I know there's a big fan backlash against it, but i always loved the franz joseph manual designs

There's a fan backlash? I wasn't aware of that. (Mind you, I'm not really part of internet Star Trek Fandom per se). I think the Tech manual designs are absolutely marvelous - especially the Saladin class Destroyer, I've always had a huge soft spot for those. We're clearly not alone in liking them either, because Diane Carey put the Dreadnaught design in her novel "Dreadnaught", and even used the ship-name "Star Empire" (A vastly better name than "Vengeance" in my opinion).
Back when I played the Starfleet Battles wargame and the Starfleet Command pc games based on it I always used to name a lot of my ships from the Tech Manuals list (one I had named my command ship "Thunderchild" at least).

A lot of it comes from roddenberry himself. A lot of fans think the had a falling out, or something, because after the tech manual was released, roddenberry came up with a whole bunch of rules for starship design that a lot of people say was intended specifically to decanonize the tech manual designs.
