Cheers G!
I just got a reply from Becky Savage confirming I'm on volunteer schedule #11. I'll be doing security on Thursday night, Friday morning and Sunday morning so should be able to attend most of the other activities. I'll have to buy my souviners on Friday morning from the club store, though. Ah well, I'm sure they'll be worth the wait.
I only just realised that there's no playpit supervision on any schedule this year, a pity as it was actually quite fun last year. Andy, did you get any reply yet?

Woohoo. Schedule 9. Actually my second choice but I've been thinking it was the better option in the end. I've got the Autograph Assistant Special Guest Friday 4pm-5pm which I dont think has been announced yet. We'll both be on Thursday night then, oh the fun of hundreds of over eager fans in lines. It means I'll have to queue for the Weird Al Autograph on Saturday but then again he'll be around Saturday night too. I'll also probably miss the Hasbro panel if its done Saturday lunch time. And yeah I'm a little bit gutted that theres no playpit, when else will we ever be paid for playing with Transformers. Andy

I think schedule 9 was my third choice after numbers 11 and 12. Glad you got one that you were after. Thursday night will be pretty crazy, but I'm just kind of glad to get my long shifts out of the way early. I'll hopefully get Weird Al's autograph before the big rush starts.

I'm on my way! Currently killing time at Glasgow Airport at £1 for 10 minutes on a wee net terminal. All has gone well so far- I didn't even have to let security examine my scabby Reeboks. I should probably look into buying another pair while I'm away.
I have a 5 hour stopover in Philadelphia so you'll probably hear from me again in about 9 hours. I have Essential Thor and a Daily Telegraph (with free bottle of water) to keep me amused in transit. Speak to you soon, folks!

Nine and a half hours later (yet the locals assure me it's only lunchtime) here I am in sunny Philadelphia! God damn it's hot.
I'm in a wee UPS store just off the concourse from one of the SEVEN terminals. This place is ridiculously huge and flicks between identical, boxy grey corridors and more swanky decor with huge windows and rocking chairs. Must be a local thing- there are rocking chairs everywhere, often next to wi-fi access. Just before I came to this place I passed along a moving walkway next to framed posters of every major movie filmed in Philly in the last 50 years. I doubt Glasgow airport's display would be quite so inspiring (or contain quite so many Rocky films).
Anyway, I have four and a half hours to kill until my connection so I guess I'll go and find a phone, assure my mother I'm still alive and then locate some food. As in... more food. I'll say this for US Airways- they feed you. We had a surprisingly good chicken dinner with cake for afters at 11 o'clock in the morning just after take-off, and later bags of pretzels, several rounds of complimentary drinks and a big ham and cheese roll before landing. Lovely.
So... this is Nick, in Philadelphia, 11 hours into my 21 hour odyssey, signing off.

Me Matt and Andy made it last night, Nick joined us a short time later. both trips from the airport were somewhat nerve inducing, but Nicks experience probably wins.
We just watched Hull City lose to Man U but feel very happy about it. Nicks at Church, hopefully.

Posting from Andy's mate's laptop: we're currently in a hotel in Anaheim, opposite Disneyland. We toured the local area this afternoon, made the classic error of going shopping for snacks while hungry and came back with a ton of stuff, then went to the cinema. Tomorrow morning we're gunning for the Disneyland Jetlag Special, visiting the resort as soon as it opens and going on all the better rides before the crowds build up. On Tuesday we head for Pasadena to meet up with the Irish contingent.
I'm relieved to say that my passage to California did not leave a trail of shattered lives and was less violent and more monotonous and uncomfortable. Anyway, I'm conking out here so I'd best get off to bed. Proper updates to follow.

We're hitting Disney tomorrow [Tues] to avoid all the memorial day visitors. O is getting very excited about Disney, he's already used the bathroom twice and he's only just got up. I dread to think what tomorrow will be like.

Gentlemen, your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to make the fandom aware of the other Nexus Maximus by asking a question about the name at the Hasbro Q+A panel.

Morning! We spent 15 hours at Disneyland yesterday. We went on a lot of rollercoasters. It's an amazing place- far and away the best theme park I've ever been to. The only downside was that my dad's favourite Disney film, The Jungle Book, seems to have been excised from history and there was no evidence of its existence anywhere. Grr. Ah well.
So, we're about to leave Anaheim and head for the convention hotel in Pasadena. We should be meeting up with Tony and Marc this evening and Jaymz and O whenever they get back. A couple of questions before I go:
1) G, What's wrong with Disneyland? 2) Nige, who the hell is Nexus Maximus?

Oh right.
Well, here we are in Pasadena. Now all we have to do is fine Marc and Tony and we will be laughing. I wish I knew when they were getting in. I have a vague recollection of Tony emailing me about it a few weeks ago, but being daft I forgot to take a note of it.

Hi all!
Met up with Tony last night and took up position in my new room, and we're about to head out for breakfast before going to Universal Studios. I can scarcely wait.

Whoops! Forgot to out of Tony's account earlier. We're just out of Universal Studios. It was pretty good, but suffered from being our second theme park after Disneyland against which it pales by comparison. Ah well. Tomorrow it's the Hollywood tour- it seems I'm the only one of our group who didn't book for it. If someone calls in sick or otherwise doesn't show up tomorrow I can get on one of the coaches and pay my way on the day, but if we get a full turn-out I'll hang back at the hotel, wash my undercrackers and mooch around Pasadena solo.
