Excellent photos there. Hope all of you are having a wonderful time while we are stuck over here wondering how much sun we're going to get before more rain comes down!

If I had a Terminator behind me I think I might be a bit nervous as well. It seems like a rational response to a tireless robot killing machine to me.

Heading to Pasadena in a few mins, so we'll be there in just over an hour or so.
Nick or Tony or someone, let me know whereabouts you are in the hotel and we can meet up at some point!

Well, we're heading down to get our extra exclusives now so we should run into you for longer than the 3 seconds we spent facing each other either side of a crowded lift going "Hey, it's you! What floor are you o-". Anyway, I have some tidings: Glad tidings: Managed to get the Universe 2 packs Ralph and Karl wanted. The extra exclusives are less expensive than I could have hoped, which means I can buy the maximum number for ourselves and Toy-fu.
Dread tidings: I only have one of each 2-pack so far so you two may have to fight to the death over the Dirge & Roadbuster.
Onwards to victory! To the club store!

Well, thanks to the fan club store being the first place anyone present could get ROTF toys the line was longer and moved slower than any I have ever seen. We lucky few who were on the Wednesday tour got to go first but it was still two hours before Marc, Gareth and I made it through. Andy and Matt were still in the line when we left even though the credit card queue was shorter because only one card reader was working. Anyway, it's over now. I managed to score a few more add-on exclusives from the Hub boys for Toy-fu and the lady at the counter even gave me an extra litho when I said I was buying them to sell in the UK for charity! Woohoo!
Today begins the panels. I have $12 to my name right now so I have to get some money changed pronto- I'll see to that while Tony's volunteering and Marc is at the fan club panel. We finally located Alan, James and O in (surprise surprise) the queue at about 10 last night when we were coming back from dinner. In 35 minutes Botcon will be in full swing, I will be waiting outside a travel agent with a bundle of British money and everything will be rosy.

Well, that's day 1 over with. I am tired and skint but quite chuffed, and Toy-fu's inventory has expanded nicely in many directions. Tomorrow I hope to make arrangements with the IDW staff to get some unique prizes for the AA edition of the Yomtov Factor. I picked up Gav's Animated Shockwave & Bumblebee 2-pack and even managed to get a couple of things for myself! The panels were fairly unenlightening, though the Animated one fought a tense battle with the movie writers' one for most entertaining. Tomorrow is a last-ditch attack on the dealer room, several panels including the all-important Hasbro panel and the Party at Paramount, followed closely by alcohol abuse long into the night. In other news, some customs chaps are selling Quintessons for about $20 a pop, so if anyone urgently needs a General Ghyrick please post here. -Nick

The queues were unbelievable. I spoke to one woman who started queuing for the Peter Cullen autograph line at 7 a.m. and got there at 10.30. The man himself wisely took a break from 11 till 1, and most of the people who didn't get an autograph elected to wait the extra two hours in the corridor. Crazy.
Well, the dealer room is about to close for the day. Marc and I are back at the hotel filling in surveys and opening stuff. Tony and Gareth have just gotten back from a final pass of the dealer room. Now we're looking at a quick meal before the Party at Paramount. Caloo calay.

There must be someone from tfw2005 in the panels with a laptop and wi-fi. I've been following live updates as some of the panels have happened! It's like living in The Future.

With queue's as long as they are at Botcon I think I'd much prefer the quietness of Auto Assembly. It might not be as big as its American cousin but at least you can get an autograph from one of the guests within ten minutes.

Well, the Party at Paramount was unexpectedly awesome. The buses were an hour late picking us up from the hotel (queuing round the block ensued, surprise surprise) so we missed out on the tour of the sets. However I had forgotten all about the tour so was content with meeting Ironhide (which is like a house on wheels, by the way) and all that followed. It started with an extensive buffet with a wide variety of meats and salads, a bar with free soft drinks (huzzah) and an open-air concert by Stan and Vince, with a few other fellas. Then Ratchet pulled up, and Tyrese Gibson got out. He seemed like a genuinely nice fella and had a lot of time for the fans, even joining in with the merry chants of "left cheek, left cheek" and showing those at the front his new Autobot tattoo.
Then there was a bit more music, we got our pictures taken with Ratchet and Ironhide and Weird Al Yankovic who turned up unannounced, and then we were off for a short preview of the movie. Hasbro bloke whose name Tony and Marc will be able to tell you (they told me often enough) said we would be seeing the full trailer in a cinema setting for the first time, but was corrected in a staged manner by a tall fella in a blue jacket. We were in the back row but from the hair and the voice it appeared to be Michael Bay. He said they were still busy finishing the rendering and edits but they had polished a couple of scenes to show us- Devastator's arrival and combination and a fight scene between Bumblebee and a Constructicon- Rampage I believe. After that we returned to the concert area for more photos, more drinking, and then home-time.
Now all that remains is for me to figure out how to get 30kg of stuff into a 23kg luggage allowance.

After a careful analysis of the hazy US Airways baggage policy (after reassurance from most of the Hubotcon contingent), I am allowed 2 pieces of hold luggage EACH up to 23kg. Mwa ha. Mwa ha ha. MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
And before you condemn my insanity, the Scots contingent should know that a lot of that weight is on your behalf! I got all the Universe stuff Ralph and Karl wanted, Gav's Animated twin-pack, a couple of surprises for Mr Turnbull and some other light yet annoyingly bulky stuff that Mr. Burns might thank me for even though it's not for him...
M, I'm sorry I didn't have any luck with your Fort Max accessories but I'm sure I can find them on eBay US at fair prices with a bit of patience.

Well, Botcon is over for another year. It was a convention of spectacular highs and painful lows, and as per Hubtractual obligation, one of the contingent got wellied, acted like a tit and ended up chundering. However, the night is young and that number could still rise.

And right this moment the other member rose zombie like from the bed and lurched to the bathroom. Right this moment I and Matt sit listening to the sounds of vomit hitting water.
Overall good convention. Strangely people have being searching me out this week. Volunteering has provided the odd perk over the weekend, mostly the bypassing of Peter Cullens queue so my brothers DVD got signed. And I got annoyed and yelled at Brian Savage, twice. Maybe I didn't yell others would have to confirm that.
