So Wait-a-minute? The retro stuff from CG2 etc is now declared obsolete? When did anyone say that, Ken?

*Angrily screws up his draft of Transformers and Philosophy* Is there anyone from the current UK comic coming along? Got a couple of colourists so far, obviously some of the artists who do work from time-to time (John McCrea and Lee Bradley) and going to talk to Steve White again as he was hoping to have made it last year.

The Old-Skoool stuff is to be looked at with pride IMO. I was reffering to a comment made earlier in the thread about leaving out older stuff from the convention magazine. Fair enough about having shiny new stuff and exciting new material to look at, but a nod to where the zine material started from and how far it has come would also be nice. ===KEN

That was done in the first TMUK magazine for Auto Assembly by James O and Garry Bodsworth, nobody is glossing over it. The simple fact is, it's a fanzine and while TMUK members will lap up reprints of older material other people might not be, so having something with all new material is a wise proposition.

New material for something like the AA magazine is definitely the way to go. Besides I would imagine a lot of people who actually created/drew/wrote a lot of the now 15 years old material would prefer to not have it resurrected in such a manner.

That's what Lost Chronicles as a fanzine is for I did'nt mean reprint old fanzine material in a new convention mag, I meant like some sort of acknowledgement or nod to TMUK history. Either way. I'll be happy to talk it further on the mag thread. Things seem promising, and if there is some sort of tidbit I am welcome to do for the mag I'll have a stab at it.

While I now see merit of both sides - I don't think it would hurt to have some sort of "independant from the main mag" select / potted history of TMUK in the form of an overview article and maybe a select few illustrations from over the years (but only with the contributors consent) as while they are old some pieces do stand the test of time and do play a significant role in the wider history of TF (i.e. former TMUK people now being pro TF illustrators, etc).

Well as Andy has already said a couple of posts ago there was a "History of TMUK" type feature in the AA 2006 magazine by James and Garry.

You'd probably have to get in touch with either James or Garry to see if there are any copies left. I don't think there are as I think they completely sold out on the day at AA 06.
Mind you, why wouldn't they; it was an awesome magazine!

Well when the idea for this year's TMUK AA mag was discussed by Andy, Karl and myself we were looking at something that captures all the bits of Transformers itself that would appeal to fans in general not just those in TMUK (ie toys, cartoon, movies, comics). I personally feel doing a bit on fan-stuff would be of limited interest relative to the point of the mag and would be a bit biased as it ignores what lots of other UK fans not associated with TMUK have done.
But as I said in the mag thread, if anyone feels inspired enough to cobble togather another fanzine for AA then by all means go for it. There's room for all sorts of fan efforts!
And now back to the AA Guest Wish list discussion!

I would certainly love to see some representatives from Hasbro or even Takara. Not so much to see previews of new toys but maybe a workshop type thing and a presentation of prototypes and early designs/concepts.

Underbase? What do you guys look for in a convention guest anyway? I like the idea of anything Hasbro related. I found the Q and A panel their people did at Botcon 98 (I have a highlights video from George who attended) in regards to toy production pretty interesting. I'd think that 10+ years on Hasbro will be even more open with the fan community and maybe show off even more of thier wares. I am sure Hasbro UK are capable of doing something presentable.

John Cullen's database site with a guide to TMUK stories as well as hosting quite a large chunk of them.

Speaking personally, I prefer my old stuff just to be available to people once they are well into TMUK / the Hub, preferably through the DVD story archive. I prefer it not to be something distributed to casual TF fans at conventions.
But if people produce new fanzines for conventions which bring new people to the Hub seeking older fan-fiction, they are welcome to have it on the DVD.

Second paragraph sounds like a plan Martin. I've already agreed before to leave your stuff out of Lost Chronicles zines (which I rarely produce anyway). So uh everyone else... How about them guests? ===KEN

One thing I can't stress enough right now is early pre-registrations though. The more early bookings we get, the more guests we can look at getting.
Short of getting sponsors or exceeding our dealer table sales estimates, we'll hit a point soon where we're going to be at our guest limit within our target budget (which we've based on a reasonable expectation of ticket sales) so we'll have to put a halt on booking more guests apart from the ones we're already talking to or have already approached although we will obviously keep all the suggestions in mind if extra money comes in.

We've just confirmed Nick Roche and we've got some VERY exciting plans lined up for his involvement over the weekend!
