The Speccy is indeed great. World of Spectrum is a great Speccy site with downloads and mag scans. Also if you'd like a more colourful Speccy experience how about Spec256

Beware! I was playing for a while on the first link, and when I finished and closed it down I was still getting the game audio on my computer...

I've never found a Spectrum Emulator that lets me play 128k versions of games. Annoys me intensely. I think most will let you, though often you have to select what model Speccy from a menu. But there are a lot out there so I don't actually know for sure. Emulators for PC that I know will play 128k games (as I'm using them myself) are zx32 and ZXSpin. In related news I also use ZXDS a lot. In fact my (non-3)DS is used mainly as a Speccy these days. ZXSpin seems to work ok Windows 7 so is now my Spectrum emulator of choice. www.zophar.net/sinclair/zx-spin.html

Proof positive of what the 128k could achieve in audio:
And yes, that's in stereo.

Today Twitter alerted me to the existence of this catchy tune:

You can download an album with this on it from the chap who made it.
On heavy rotation at Turnbull Towers.

It is a classic track, inspired by a great TV film.

Indeed it is. Remind me to try and salvage your old laptop next time and see if we can't get stuff off it!

On a related note, can anyone recognise the tune from this YouTube video. It sounds like it's been generated on a Spectrum 128k machine.

Sounds far too good to be coming from a spectrum, although I suspect it may be from an early arcade game when there was a lot of synth stuff like that.
Also - What the hell sort of video is that to be watching for any sane reason anyway? Down with that sort of thing! Careful now!

Bounced due to having to look up where to get a spectrum emulator.
Marc, the music from that video could quite possibly have been generated using a spectrum: the 128's had a midi interface on them!

ZX Spectrum Vega: More info here, but basically it's a Speccy style game pad with around 1000 games built-in and you can add your own collection of games with a SD card. The first batch of 1000 has been snapped up at £100, but there will be more available (for cheaper) in the future. I find my DS makes a pretty good Speccy but I do find myself wanting to pick one of these up.
