I'm fine now. I think it was the effect of having 4 dinners yesterday, coupled with an average of about 5 beers per hour.

Ah, so just Crimbo Lurgy then. That's a relief, I suppose.

My sister got me the 2-disc set for Christmas. Watched it once on my parents' 4:3 telly and it was so-so. Watched it again on my widescreen telly with surround sound and it blew me away.
Which pretty much sums up where the strengths of the film lie.
Favourite extra was the gorgeous conceptual art gallery on disc 2. If they had artwork like that as standard in TF comics, I might even be tempted to start buying them again.
Watched the film with subtitles switched on, and was surprised by how much dialogue I didn't realise was there in the background, either drowned out by music or effects, or someone else speaking (e.g. Agent Simmons asking his men if they'll keep quiet about it back at the office if he breaks S7 protocol and engages in dialogue with Optimus Prime). Subtitles are good for the military stuff, and for making sense of what Jazz and Frenzy are saying. ("Megatron melting!")
Bay's commentary was entertaining in places - all the stuff about death threats from fans, the Die Hard people moving their release date because they were afraid of clashing with TFs (they only had a fake F22 but TFs had the real thing because "I've got a phone number to the Pentagon" - nyeah, nyeah), etc.
Couple of Easter Eggs on disc 2. On some of the sub-menus, if you click on "Main Menu" you either get the main menu or a hidden extra depending on whether you scrolled up to it or down to it.
The Iron Man trailer (on a hidden menu following on from the film) made me shake my head in pity. Superhero movies have had their day. Transformers are the new superheroes.
'Course, they could always put Spider-Man in Transformers 2...

The 2 disc edition is great and I enjoyed it on my 4:3 TV. I'm hoping to get a newer modern set in the sales and I think the first DVD I'll try will be this one!

I may or may not have had a yarrr version of the DVD sitting on a hard drive for the past 3 months but I deleted it last night as I never watched it.

I got the Play.com metal case set and the region 1 special edition and I was disappointed because they are the same. I would have liked as well a dedicated option of solely deleted scene material as opposed to having bits of deleted scenes mixed up with the other extras.

It was the 8th highest grossing film of 2007 at UK cinemas, I read somewhere. I forget where exactly.

Yes I believe it made just slightly more than Hot Fuzz in 10th place. I suppose that means HF did well not that TF did badly?

I would say placing within the top 10 is impressive, considering the patchy distribution of toys in recent years and the cartoons being on digital channels. Not bad at all. TF didn't have the name recognition of the likes of Harry Potter, etc.

Most successful non-sequel of the year, wasn't it?
So, onto things of real importance... anyone with HD managed to figure out any of the Transformers' number plates yet? 24 years of comics and cartoons, without a readable licence plate appearing (that I've noticed).
Martin prepares to be flooded by replies proving him wrong.

I'm sure the Laser Rod Prime toy had a readable licence plate. 'OP-95', IIRC.

<cough> Car Robots/RiD </cough> I suspect that Martin was referring to comics and cartoons rather than the toys (although I could be wrong). Don't think that the licence plates were readable in the CR show - that would have used more lines than they had budgeted for :-) Karl

Finally succumbed to buying the DVD with some birthday money, more for completion's sake than anything else. But hey, the good bits are worth it... Just needs a bit less 'Dawson's Creek'.

Best selling DVD in the US of 2007, apparently. I wonder how it did in the UK.
Have been watching the actually-quite-impressive extra features on the HD-DVD... lots of pop-up facts.
For example, Mikaela had to be put back a year in school because of her criminal activities... and the explanation for Megatron saying "I am... Megatron" when he's thawed is that, apparently, all Transformers say their name like that when they come online for the first time. Fancy.

Well i suppose that brings her character a little closer to her age. Still not made it through all the extras, mostly because my brother took his xbox into his bedroom Have you spotted Marc yet? Andy

Have you spotted Marc yet? Not so far! Was he part of the seething mass of fat Transformers fans that charged in front of the camera? Tell you what. If you can let me know the timecode of Marc's appearance, let me know and I'll sort out a screengrab to share with everyone.

I shall do that when I regain access to the Xbox. He is amongst the seething mass coming towards the camera through 2 open doors. That doesnt really narrow it down as theres a couple of those shots. Its the one with the internal corridor behind not the giant glass covered expanse. As if that helps.
