I _think_ the only non-original Micromasters in the west were Ironworks, Hothouse, Greasepit, Airwave, Skyhopper, Groundshaker and the three Combiner Transports whose Micros were all Constructor Squad recolours.
The (non-combiner) Micromasters Transports, Skystalker, Countdown, the Combiner Anti-Aircraft Base and the Combiner Battlefield Headquarters all had original Micros with them.

But The toy catalogue that came with my Skyhyper is interesting in that it shows Landshaker and Skyhyper with different Micromasters. It has a recoloured Flak and Sunrunner, in dark green and black, which look great, shame they never saw release. |

Interesting, I thought the 1989 recolours were limited to the first three (late 1988) Micromaster Patrols, but the Battle Squad is wave 2.

That's a bit of a shame then. Countdown's unique alt mode suits his space explorer nature, but as soon as I got Skystalker, I wondered why the pilot of the big Decepticon Micromaster space ship was an orange... car.

A Porsche 959, like Nightbeat. Which explains why the toy had a blue version (Rabbicrater) in Japan but only orange in the west, because a blue Skystalker in the west would have clearly been Micromaster Nightbeat!   Martin |
