Couldnt find a thread for them, there must be one, but this search engine...
Anyway Im sorting through some toys for Toy-Fu that arrived from Japan. there are three Micromasters in there. 2 of them have circluar black stickers with yellow stars on them. Random stickers on old toys is not unusual but Im sure Ive gotten other MMs from Japan that also had these stickers on them. And not recently, probably 10-15 years ago.
The wiki makes no mention of stickers, so is this just coincidence or is the wiki missing some mildly interesting information?

I have been ebaying and spent more than I probably should have on the two Micromaster Transports I was missing.
It's odd, I've never really had a G1 collecting goal before, but all the Micromasters? That seems doable.

That's one of my missions. I completed 89 but then stalled on 90 because things got very expensive indeed. Having the whole 89 collection out all connected together is still one of my highlights in transformers collecting. It looks amazing.

I still have childhood Rocket Base, Groundshaker and Skystalker, so hopefully that's a few pricey items I don't have to worry about for a while. The Rocket Base is missing a couple of bits, but...
I need to find a Tracer and Monster Truck Patrol and I'll have completed the individual Patrols, then I need to start seeing what the combiners, Combiner Transports and the four small bases go for.

Oof, yeah. A quick eBay scan shows me prices of between £50 and 90 for loose versions of the Monster Truck Patrol. They do seem to be the most expensive set.
I think, unlike the other patrols, I've never even seen these guys, much less owned any of them. Were they comparatively hard to get back in the day?

I think I'd be happy if I could get the Hot Rod. After that the Six-combiners are of interest, but I don't know if they ever had western releases or not.

I'm trying to collect the Japanese sets but they hardly ever come up and can be quite pricey. I have some of the bigger Japanese sets (Big Powered, Star Convoy, Sky Garry (and his Brave counterpart)) but not many of the patrols. No Grandus either which is a top grail of mine but probably too expensive for me. Really regret not getting the one Toy Fu had at AA 2008/9 which Nick Roche ended up buying about 5 mins before I decided to get it.
Currently have all the 1989 western released Micromasters, but hardly any of the 1990 ones so trying to get them too. And I'd love to get all the combiner variants. Got all the regular versions from the blind boxes back in the day but only have black Sixturbo for the chase sets.
Going to get all the micromasters and bases I have out of the loft soon when I rotate my current G1 display and see what I'm missing.

I'm only missing two from '89 now (Hot House and Ironworks), while '90 is a bit more patchy, mostly the combiner transport dudes that are AWOL.

Constructicons and the Prowl lead Defensor. Really superb figures. I sold them on a while ago though. I think I go, like, a million pounds for them or something. It was insane. |
