Anakin's 'dialog' in Ep 2 is utterly horrible. No excuse for it.
I do love love LOVE Count Dooku. Obi-Wan is watchable. Certain fight scenes are great, especially the large battle at the end (although even that has faults).
The entire story line of the prequels is wrong wrong wrong... just so much wrong. Tragic.

I never hated the prequels the way many do, episode 1 isn't particularly bad, it's just a very dull and doesnt really bring much to the trilogy. The important parts could really have been attached to the start of Episode 2 either as a 20-30 minute section before a 10 Years later or just rolled in to the main story.
Episode 2 I had largely forgotten and so Anakins scenes took me by surprise to awful affect. But the rest is actually pretty good. I remember McGregor getting stick for his ObiWan but again I always liked it so the Obi-Wan pulp scifi space adventure is a lot of fun. Really take out every scene with only Amadala and Anakin together and theres not a lot I dislike.
Also it has a frog beat up an 80 year old man at the end. Seriously I can forgive most things if they end with Yoda and Christopher Lee fighting.

I thought Revenge of the Sith was one of the most awful films I had ever seen until I caught it again on Council TV over Christmas and suddenly realised it was an unintentional comedy masterpiece. Everything about that film is hilarious to me now.

Pfft, power or not I have the high ground. Which is arguably far less vital in a sword-fight than it is in one with longbows, or armoured vehicles... Not that anyone in the Star Wars universe has a clue what to do with an armoured vehicle anyways... :-) Karl

Jar Jar was a lot better in Ep 2. Lucas actually made him a character, and he acts his small role pretty well. He's got a pretty decent arc in Ep 1, too, but no-one really notices it because he's too busy pratfalling all over the place.
And surely only decent thing to do with an armoured vehicle is put it on legs?

I've thought for a while that the Palpatine dictatorship mirrors in some ways that of Iraq (in fact the toppling of Palpatine's statue in the ROTJ SE was a crazy foreshadowing of some footage of a Saddam statue from after the 2nd Iraq war). Will the next 3 films deal with the clean up operation in the galaxy far far away and how the Jedi (allied democratic forces) are facing a long and troubled battle for hearts and minds. Or are there some people controlling the Jedi operation who are just in it for profit (oil)? Surely there will be splinter groups that supported the Empire now in hiding, but striving for power? Won't there be sectarian divides within the galaxy (Shia vs Sunni)?
Of course the last thing we want is more politics in the Star Wars universe, but y'know. These aspects are all so prevalent in todays world, it may be difficult for a writer to avoid.

Clone Wars season 6 coming to the US Netflix. Previously it has also been announced that a 4-part arc dealing with the Darth Maul problem will be released in comic form by Dark Horse. After enjoying season five I'm quite curious to see the eps so will take Netflix up on the free trial they keep offering if it turns up on the UK version. Failing that I'll just wait for the YouTube editions.

Good to see what was made getting an outing rather than vanishing into the ether though apparently it lacks an actual conclusion to the show as a whole due to Disney wanting to do their own things with the licence. New Boss usually shelves things done by Old Boss!

Yeah a quick glance at the episode count (even chucking in the Maul comic) reveals this season is a couple of arcs short of the norm. But like you say it's good that what they did will be seen.

Well having also been interested in the US House of Cards, I decided to take that free Netflix trial. I had to make the Dave Computer seem a bit more American to get the Clone Wars eps, but I've watched them now. Not as good as the previous season, with one arc being just a thing that's there, but overall enjoyable and it was certainly an improvement on my memories of the early seasons. Had I just been unlucky with the eps I watched, or did this show improve a lot towards the end? I suppose I can always go back and watch to find out. There's a two-parter with Jar Jar and Mace that I imagine fandom hates, but it's a lot of fun and has a Temple of Doom vibe to it. Liked the final arc the best and the final episode included a bit of casting I wasn't aware of when watching, but found out later on the official site's behind the scenes bit. No not him from the trailer... Mark Hamill as Darth Bane! Having not seen the full series there could be something I'm missing, but despite the show's premature end there doesn't seem much that's unresolved well obviously Ahsoka, but apart from that...

I know, blows my mind. I get 'in motion', as in ever changing, not pre-determined (and the opposite of the Sith dealing in absolutes), but emotion seems to mean that visions of the future come as feelings... And dependant on who you are and your natural tendencies, those feelings will differ. Where Anakin feels anger and hate another person may feel sorry etc.

'Emotion' I always felt meant that the future is hard to see because of the emotions of those involved can change what possible future there may come to be.

Speaking of which, does anyone have a link to the info about the 5 canons of Star Wars? I wanted to blow Merrifield's mind with it yesterday but could not find it.

EDIT:: Oh I see there are 6 canons now and that's before the new canon starts.

The six levels of canon are mainly for sorting out the discrepancies - and two of them cover alt-universe/parodies. As mentioned in the rather good Essential Reader's Companion there were basically two versions of Star Wars pre-Disney: the George Lucas one (comprising the six films plus Clone Wars TV show/movie) and the Expanded Universe one that also included everything else (bar anything marked as non-canon obviously).
Things got messy with the canon levels in the Expanded Universe from a few things. Initially there being no effort to connect the comics, newspaper strip and novels together (Han ran into that Bounty Hunter on Ord Mantell in the comic, newspaper strip AND on audio) and then when things started up again in the 90's they chose to ignore things like the Marvel comic... only to years later decide it counted after all - at which point things didn't fit as well as they would have had they included it to begin with. The Clone Wars TV show (and the prequels to a lesser extent) later caused more trouble for the Expanded Universe.
But the simple way of looking at it is there's the George Lucas version, the Expanded Universe (or Legends as it's now labelled) version and the Disney-verse version.
