The only true Star Wars canon comprises the Holiday Special, Caravan of Courage, The Battle for Endor and that time when Yoda was flogging phones.

Needed some tosh as a spacer between some serious stuff watching recently, so I had some of Season 2 of "Clone Wars" from my rental service. Slightly surprised by how violent the show can actually be at times - I have watched Anakin stab a guy through the chest with a lightsaber, on camera. Apparently as long as you don't show blood it is ok for the hero to stab guys straight in the chest. The fact that the Battledroids are, unlike the movies, shown to be individually sapient - as opposed to being remote-controlled from the motherships like drones - does make the whole thing more disturbing. Especially when you get droids get gunned down by Clone Troopers - nominally the heroic mooks - whilst trying to surrender. Even allowing for what we know will happen with Clone Troopers it is a bit difficult to keep seeing them as the goodies when they are gunning down surrendering troops. (Mind you, given that the Republic are breeding entire batches of human beings, indoctrinating them, and using them as disposable weapons it is difficult to remember why the idea of the Seperatist Battledroids is supposed to be so terrible...)
But what really gave me a mirthless laugh was the opening voice-over to one of the episodes - talking about how the Clone Armies were overstretched and as a result systems that they had liberated from the evil clutches of the Separatists were rising up against the Republic. The general tone was "The people we've brought freedom to are rejecting it and we don't have enough soldiers to force them to be free"... That is either a piece of wickedly satirical writing or they really just didn't see the implications of what they were saying. Either way it gave me a chuckle.

I'd heard a rumor of a Boba Fett film... kinda prefer the idea of a young Han Solo film to be honest. If they can get the actor right, which would be almost very highly impossible, surely. .....I'd rather they left the whole thing alone, to be honest. But it's inevitable they'd make more.... and more and more and more. So, I just hope they take the time it takes to make them good stories.

Mostly correct. Whilst the film itself had the crawl updated in 1981, "Episode IV: A New Hope" featured on the script included in 1979's Art of Star Wars book.

The first 7 minutes of Rebels has been released. The Youtube vid is region locked, but you can still view it by whacking the URL in a downloader. Not too sure about the character designs, some of the voices or the eerie lack of background noise at times, but eh, I'll probably give it a go when it starts.

The cg cartoon Rebels starts soon on the Disney channel.
There are wee shorts being shown just now spotlighting the cast, seems decent enough. So far I have seen proper Storm Troopers and Tie Fighters. This makes me happy.

Yeah the 7 minute preview didn't particularly wow me (see above), but I enjoyed the shorts when I checked them out recently.

Watched the first episode of Rebels.
Quite enjoyed it. Feels like proper Star Wars in a way that Clone Wars didn't. Although that series did improve.

Wookieepedia has a list of canon books here. There's also a list of everything canon here. Cool, thanks. I've ordered Tarkin. Been a while since I read any Star Wars fiction so I'm looking forward to it.

The Yoda in the Speeder Car amuses me to - there is something in his expression that makes me think Yoda is a terrible passenger:- "Be mindful of your speed you should". "Clutch Control, Clutch Control, you must learn Clutch Control" Karl

Go look up a copy of Ewoks: Battle for Endor on *cough* youtube. Go to roughly 12:57 and tell me that one of the Ewoks guarding the young human is not clearly shouting: "EWOK HITLER!". I almost fell off my chair.

Working my way through Clone Wars as part of my rewatching Episodes 1-6. Just get to about the half way point of the final season and out of no where its the Mace Windu and Jar Jar Binks Odd Couple movie no one was expecting.
