This also raises another point I've been thinking about recently - I keep looking at my film DVDs wondering if I'd ever watch them now, or if I'd seek an HD version instead. TV series DVDs I think are still valid, because most are unlikely to be upscaled to Blu-ray with any real benefit unless it's something like the Doctor Who ones, but films - is there still a place for DVDs? I actually looked at the Indiana Jones box set on the shelf the other day when thinking about a film series to watch, but passed it over. Stick Raiders on BBC1 in HD though and I'm there glued to it. DVD's are perfectly fine for viewing copies. HD is good if the source material has been remastered from an original 16/35/70mm film print. -Ralph

Though now I see that Raiders is on the Iplayer. That is the Easter Sunday afternoon viewing sorted then.

I see what you did there, very clever. Whenever anyone here says "This cold war has just got hot," I picture dragons strafing snow-zombies. Martin

StarWars.comIf you have Disney+ and have been wanting to watch The Clone Wars in chronological order the above link is for you. The episodes are in order and each has a link to the episode on Disney+ so no constantly searching for th next one or having to change discs.

BBC1 West (which I can get) apparently showing two Indiana Jones films this afternoon - Last Crusade at 1.40pm, Crystal Skull at 6.40pm.
BBC1 Wales only showing Last Crusade.

I'm one behind. Doing Temple of Doom now because that was on when we were chatting on Saturday. Last Crusade perhaps tomorrow.

The four Indy films are on the BBC Iplayer for a week and the first one falls off tomorrow so we watched it tonight. TEMPLE OF DOOM tomorrow.

Temple felt cut to me. Like and old fashioned TV version. Loads of jumps in it. If the rain keeps up I might watch Last Crusade today, but I'll forego the Howard Donald and use the DVD version.

I'm not fussed if Temple is cut. I hadn't seen the uncut US version until I saw it in a cinema a few years ago. I agree with what had been chopped: some of it was bit too nasty and was best gone. I'm not usually in favour of cutting films, but I prefer the version usually shown on the telly.

Yes, it was the Less Horrible cut version. Hmmm. TOD is fine on its own but doesn't fare as well if you watch it not long after Raiders. Mine cart chase is still amazing.
Last Crusade tomorrow!

Watched Last Crusade while it rained. Realised watching films on dvd in the age of HD isn't quite as horrific as I thought. Have to do Crystal Skull now.

I still have to rely on my not well remastered Fullscreen DVD of Muppet Christmas Carol.
Its fine but I would love to give Disney money for a HD version.

No, when the minute by minute journey on the Jacobite was on. Two hours of watching a Black Five chuff through the Scottish Highlands from Fort William to Mallaig.

I thought it was better than I remembered. Watching it a day after the third one there was a kind of symmetry with the father/son stuff. What ruins it is the alien bit. I don't know why they thought that would be a good idea. The basic humour and the action sequences fit with the first three pretty well.

Yeah the alien thing was not a good choice.
In other viewing, Killing Eve series three is off to a rather dramatic start.

Catching up with box recordings - half way through the recent adaptation of Northern Lights. This is SO much better than the film and really well cast. The CGI is mind-blowing for a BBC production. The animals are cinema quality and when they get as far as Iorek, he is the bear I saw in my head when reading the books. Just brilliant. It's all still on iPlayer.
