Yes, I'm up to date with The Boys.
And I don't need to watch Shakma, I've read the original graphic novel on which it is based. The film's never as good as the book.
My final use of my Prime membership has been to watch a new film, 'Locked Down', in which Mordo and Catwoman find themselves stuck in the same house during lockdown. It was different from my usual fare, and I enjoyed it.

Ooh, speaking of which, I watched Tron in stunning Howard Donald last night. That scrubs up quite nicely.

Eldest watched Raiders of the Lost Ark with me the other evening and found it highly enjoyable. You can't beat a classic.

Watched Netflix Wednesday last week. Really very good. Lots of people saying it has a Riverdale/Sabrina vibe which I guess I get from the bit Ive watched of those, but I was getting much stronger Veronica Mars vibes which is about as high a praise as you'll get from me.
My biggest gripe is probably with Morticia and Gomez. Not the actors fault, they're just written ... off. I guess I could take it as seeing them from Wednesdays POV rather than how they actually are, but not a fan.

Not sure, but I'll be disappointed if it doesn't feature Hugh Laurie in the title role.

Yesterday: Muppet Christmas Carol and Mortimer & Whitehouse Gone Fishing.
Today: David Walliams’ Red Riding Hood After Ever After, The Snowman & the Snow Dog, and the Fast Show Christmas Special.
Never seen Snow Dog before. Really good job of making it look like first Snowman, spoilt by falling snow that could only be computer-generated. Decent enough, but the presence of two snow beings dilutes the friendship and emotional punch of the original.

And Boxing Day: The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse - beautiful work, 10/10. Seconded. The book is a favourite for use at school and I wasn't sure how it would work as an animation, but my word it's something special.

Acquired Daredevil seasons 1-2 on Blu-Ray from HMV Cardiff.
Hadn't been interested in the series until Matt Murdock showed up in Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk. Now I'm curious.

Not convinced by the boy and the animals thingy. It was the narrative equivalent of a little wooden sign with some trite aphorism written on it. I found it insincere. It looked nice, I guess.

Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin rules.
Edit: Right, the other thing I had lined up to watch this holiday was Tokyo Vice on iPlayer, which was recommended for me (by the same relative who recommended SAS Rogue Heroes). But I lost interest and gave up on that less than one episode in. So it's just a Daredevil binge for Martin for the next few days. (Interspersed with reading the new Jack Reacher novel.)

Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin rules. He does, totally. Very well played character. Also very well written. There's considerable depth there for a comic character. I think if you like Daredevil then Jessica Jones is worth a go too. I liked all of the Netflix Marvel shows, but Daredevil and Jessica Jones were the standouts.

Watched all of Jessica Jones a few years back. Main characters didn't grab me as much as those in Daredevil have.

Daredevil was very good. Definitely one I want to rewatch.
What did you think of HotD, Martin? I'm on episode 7 and still not convinced.

Production values and acting are fine, and it has decent dialogue. But it suffers from a few things that were inevitable, in comparison to the original GoT:
1. We know, and have seen, where it's going. 2. It keeps jumping forward in time, whereas the original GoT happened in real time over several years. 3. It doesn't have the sense of epic scale that came with different stories happening in different parts of the world that take years to come together. 4. The dragons are there from day one, rather than building up gradually from tiny to huge over a course of years.
Also, none of the characters come across as being as outstanding as the top half dozen in GoT.
It's an appendix to GoT, much like The Rings of Powers is to LotR.
But it has its moments, such as the final two minutes of episode 9 (you have a treat in store there), where the writers remember what GoT does best. And the opening music still gives me tingles.

Martin Have finished watching the last few now. Agree with all of this. I think the time jumps are distracting and not really necessary. The first few episodes up to the first time jump were pretty dull and might have lost me as a viewer and I don't think they really achieved enough to justify their inclusion (might be more interesting on second viewing) but the second half of the series and particularly the last 4 episodes were great (albeit a very difficult to watch final episode). Shame the second series won't be until 2024.
