But now I have Ant-Man 3. Does this mean I need to acquire Ant-Man 1 and 2? Yes, yes it does. Look at all those trilogies you have! You can't just have Ant 3. Especially as the first two were better.

Mightn't you watch some of the extras? Or take a nap while letting the audio commentary wash over you? That's probably a good enough reason to pick it up in CEX in a few years when it's down to a couple of quid second hand.

Hopefully at the bottom. I have not able to bring myself to watch the blu-ray extended version yet. -Ralph 13/20. Time Flight's at the bottom, of course. Along with Warriors on the Cheap and The King's Demons.

Despite not having a 4k player Ive begun picking up new MCU and Disney films in 4K. I noticed recently that amazon have 2 boxsets with phase 3 split between then for around £30 each and they include Blu Ray and 4K. So I'll be going back and upgrading those too.

This has all the usual Marvel ingredients but it's so dull. Strangely, I can also see how Martin sees the colour pallet as vibrant, but Karl sees it as sludge. It seems to be doing both at the same time. Its vibrant objects seen through an oppressive, dense atmosphere. Like being under water just deep enough for colours to get funky. I wouldnt call it sludge, but thats likely because, like Endgame and Picard season 3 I didn't have any trouble following what was going on onscreen and liked the effect in each case.

Yes, the trouble seems to be that in messing with the colours to make it look 'different' to most of us, they've apparently made it look dull / difficult to follow for people with traits of colour-blindness or other visual impairments. I haven't bothered with Quantumania yet, it looked a bit dull even from the trailers, lacking the fun and humour of the first two. I'm sure I'll watch it at some point, but MCU movies are increasingly a slog. Speaking of which...
Had an evening to myself and watched Wakanda Forever, but my attention continually wandered and I regretted not bailing on it and just playing Zelda instead. It was well enough made, but not nearly as engaging as the first one. I liked Namor a lot, would be happy to see more of him, but otherwise it was all very predictable and the subplot with Ross was mystifyingly pointless - just moving pieces around for other MCU series / films, near as I can tell. Very disappointing.

Same. I was very disapointed by it. Also suffers from the current trend of 'light things as little as possible'. Namor's first appearance? Any scene underwater? No idea what was going on.

Just watched 'Wrath of Man', a far superior Statham film to 'Operation Fortune'. Even though I don't understand at all what happened in the final ten minutes.

Very disappointing. Ross was one of my prevailing annoyances about the film. I literally did ask the screen at one point "Why are you in this movie Colonizer?". He literally didn't do anything relevant to the film that couldn't be covered by a single line of dialogue in one scene. He appeared to be there "because he was in the previous film" to me. And I felt like a lot of the issue of the film feeling quite "loggy" and overlong could be solved simply by removing all his scenes. Which just made every time he showed up a little more annoying. Does that help his case though? Or does it just mean I could see him better to be annoyed at? :-)

Dotm today.
Will I get the other 3 watched before Sunday?

They were all on Film 4 this week. I managed 10 mins of DOTM and about 15 mins of AOE. I felt proud.
AOE was the only one I genuinely enjoyed at the cinema but I just can't be hooped with it at home.

Well they were eating Twinkys on Ghostbusters. So, what'r'ya saying? The Ghostbusters eat bricks?
|

Post by legios on Jun 14, 2023 22:00:11 GMT
Nah. I'm just pointing out that Twinkies don't contain any known nutritional value, and so can't really be classed as food. They are still technically organic, in the same way technical way that plastics are organic, whereas Bricks are inorganic. But whilst Twinkies can be eaten, they do not perform any of the functions that we would normally expect of the category food. At best they could go under "assorted bulk" I guess...

Twinkies must be ok if the Ghostbusters eat them.
There's only one solution: The Doctor must eat only Twinkies for 6 weeks. And we'll see how he gets on.

I didn't mind Twinkies. But like a lot of american snack food - very sub par compared to what you could get in the UK, I wouldn't go out of my way to get one.

Penultimate episode of Witch from Mercury was a heck of a watch, a lot of emotional beats that they had been building too all season - not necessarily big showy things, some of them were but others were small little moments that were very meaningful in the context of the rest of the events of the season.
One of the things I've noticed with Witch is that this is probably the first time I've felt this invested in the characters in a Gundam show. Sure, there have been characters I've liked and I've wanted things to be ok for. But this is the first time that I really feel that the character stuff is so much more important than the plot - yes, there is a terrible thing that is happening that needs to be stopped, but the terrible thing is very much entwined with the relationships amongst the characters, and their emotional drama... Essentially, this is the first Gundam show where it really feels like it _matters_ to me whether characters can heal, can step back from mistakes they are about to make and live with mistakes they have made... I wasn't expecting to get quite so attached to these characters - considering that this show is in no way shape or form aimed even vaguely in my direction. I think it is a tribute to how well they've done what they set out to do that it has landed so well for me.
Blu-ray release for this would be nice. If they can give us Unicorn and Narrative on shiny disc surely they can give us Witch as well to make up for it?
