If those guys are Transformers who didn't want to fight and weren't fighting, why are they all so grand looking and heavily armed?

Yet again I'm left wondering why all the characters who meet drift seem to know on first meeting that he is cool, deep, a thinker, spiritual. I admit I haven't readthat much of his appearances but I haven't gotten anything beyond good fighter doesn't say or express much. Maybe they are all supposed to have the insight of the enlightened and can sense the hidden potential of his robot Chi. Or possibly it is just bad story-telling. Karl

Oh, and note Hot Shot getting killed in one of the panels of that preview. That is because Alex Milne wanted to piss off David Willis. Or rather, because his friends wanted to piss off David Willis, which is even more baffling. He posted this up on the IDW forums: forum.idwpublishing.com/viewtopic.php?t=8525&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=288I find reading that so sad, can't professionals at least be polite anymore?

Theres enough examples of duplicate body types theres just no need to kill any character just to fill a background especially for reasons like that. I wish the colourists would just miscolour them make back into a generic.
Its never been a funny in joke. Well maybe G1 appearing in Armada and Animated, but thats about it.

Can someone just tell me what Alex Milne said. The lack of capital letters at the start of sentences confused me.

He doesn't like David Willis AKA Walky (Transformers fan and It's Walky!/Shortpacked creator) so, for a laugh, he killed one of Willis' favourite characters on-panel.

I haven't got the source material to hand but isn't this plot of fleeing Cybertron and living in peace the same as the Marvel Headmasters series with Fort Max's crew?

Closer to Series 3's 'Fight Or Flee'. Transformers abandoning Cybertron and it's many wars was mentioned quite a bit in the cartoon.

I see TF2005 have clean pages of this up. I hope someone does a spoof. I'll read the proper preview if someone nice does a spoof.

Unless he is identified as Hot Shot, is named or has any characterisation then it is a pointless cipher which can be easily ignored.

I don't think much of Walky either, the guys' arrogance knows few bounds, but Milne should know better than to stoop to silly shit like that. Oy.

I don't think much of Walky either, the guys' arrogance knows few bounds, but Milne should know better than to stoop to silly shit like that. Oy. Walky's response seems to be "hur hur, cool!". Followed by poking at the editor for saying Milne has no control over which character lives or dies: "maybe you should tell him not to draw characters dying. Because from where I’m looking, he sure does seem to be determining who lives and who dies". Which is a fair point, really. What influence? I thought he was just another message board punter. -Ralph He knows people and people who know people involved in the franchise & has been around a long time, so he can have the usual "fan who's old and around ages" influence on other fans and has had some nods from the franchise. (One of the toy bios references "Two Megatrons!" as a nod to him, apparently) He also is an admin and frequent contributor to the TF wiki. Though I think I've contributed 90% of everything Titan related to that wiki and I'm not sure if I have influence (though last time I was on holiday, I did meet a Transformers fan who raved up the Starscream-possessed-by-Megatron story that they only knew about via the wiki).

Is he the admin who threw a hissy fit because people dared to offer constructive criticism about the TF books and did a big "I'M LEAVING!" thing or was that someone else?

That was DanielW on the IDW boards I like Walky, he's a good chap with a good sense of humour, and has given a hell of a lot to the fandom. Frankly, his biggest influence to date is writing the bio for Shattered Glass Ravage!
