As the big man once said, "Not today, Galavatron". I think we can all learn something from these wise words.

Yeah, Universe is on hold in the US (we'll see if latter waves actually turn up here). Odds are high something like it will turn up later, given past form. Any Animated moulds that got to the tooling stage will almost certainly turn up somewhere, to recoup the costs. Probably not this year, but if the ROTF line does well retailers will want more product, like the last movie line where random repaints (ie 'Allspark Power') and the like turned up. There is still hope, Animated fans!
Who knows, maybe something will be announced at Botcon.

According to the Hasbro panel, we're still getting Arcee, Soundblaster+Ratbat, Rodimus, Cybertron-mode Ratchet and Ironhide with a different head, Blackout with Earth-helicopter mode, Bumblebee with aqua-dealie, gold Grimlock for some reason, some sort of 'final battle' Optimus Prime with extra accessories that can attach to the deluxe or voyager-class figure.
At some point. Hasbro are basically finished designing them and are just looking for a retailer to scoop them up.

Animated can't be allowed to die. At least we need the odd animated versions of future toy lines.

Take heart Animated fans. Still plenty of figures to come out, and not all repaints either. The odds of them turning up as store exclusives, possibly in ROTF packaging, are high in my opinion. Hasbro will need to recoup the production costs.

So, can I just confirme, Animated is no more? It's being hasta-lasagned? How series did it run for? And what is next?

Animated the show was canned with season 3. It is dead. The toy-line under the Animated packaging is dead. However, the good news is that plenty of Animated toys are still to come out (mix of repaints and new moulds). Hasbro indicated at Botcon they intend for them to come out. Which makes sense, given money already sunk into tooling, etc. Where, when or how these turn up is unknown. I would suggest that with the ROTF going great guns, don't expect to see them before 2010.
Hasbro have their own TV channel starting up in 2010 and Transformers has been mentioned as a property they intend to run on it. Though what form a future show will take is completely unknown at this point.

Interesting, interesting. Thanks for that, Doc'! Potential for good times ahead! Obv I'm sorry for Animated- I've not got into it myself, partly 'cos of the styling, and partly 'cos I've had no opportunity to watch the series. But with Hasbro having it's own TV channel, with Transformers as one of their biggest scoobery-dooberies, things are looking good for TFs.

Bulkhead does look nifty. Hoist looks superb, and Mixmaster... why does he have Beast Machines Rattrap's head?

I like the idea, but eeeeh the voyager one is pretty bad compared to the leader-class, which you can still get at my local Tescos for 19.50 (if anyone wants one let me know). I'd prefer a repaint as a new character

I've been sitting on some news for weeks, because I didn't think I should say anything for professional reasons and also I thought it would have leaked by now anyway.
I was told something by another dealer at Auto Assembly, who shares a supplier with me. When I spoke to the rep later, he confirmed it and, well, I still shouldn't say anything, but if I say that the sales team had recently been to Hasbro UK's meeting for the 2010 product range and last week, the Moon guys reported (http://www.transformersanimated.com/transformers-news.php) that Entertainment Earth has listed Animated Wave 7 for a December release in America, I'm sure you can put two and two together.

Are we going to have name chnages for Japan.
Optimus is going to be Convoy anyway, they never have him has Optimus over there.

Maybe as Prime is pretty much a nobody in Animated he'll stay a Prime. Magnus could be renamed Convoy instead.
Andy
Edit: Wonder if they will get new/better/better QC paint jobs.

I am hoping that too about the QC and mainly paint-jobs. All the Animated toys really need is more black outline in places (like Bumblebee has) to look more 'animated'.
Seriously, I've seen Kinder Surprise toys based on toons with better paint-jobs, mainly because of added black outline.
JapAnimated has a lot of potential.

Optimus is going to be Convoy anyway, they never have him has Optimus over there. I think that the two live-action movie toy lines featured Optimus Prime instead of Convoy didn't they?. Perhaps there were issues with changing the name because it would have created a disconnect between the subtitled and dubbed prints of the film, with different versions calling him different things. But that the Movie - in the cartoon toylines we have Convoy, Leo Convoy, Fire Convoy. The LA CGI Movie line is totally different compared to the animated lines. [just look at the IDW comic taking the Cybertron repaint toys & making them look Movie style - that looks instead of name change]
