Hey, come on, at least you and I stand united on the Brain of Morbius issue, seemingly against everyone else. It never has sat quite right in my mind, but watching it recently I was aghast at how rubbish it actually is.

Destiny gets a nine for the same reason Phil rates it - nostalgia. But even I can't go as far as ten because the conclusion is naff. The first episode is proper old school Doctor explores an alien planet stuff though, which is just lovely even if it is typical Nation. I've also enjoyed many a day out at Winspit with friends recreating scenes from that and Blake's 7, so Destiny has a special place for me.

Right, so the Movellans are disco diva madness, and their ludicrously placed power packs are just silly, but apart from that there isn't anything wrong with it if you like typical Nation stories.
There are some superb moments. The Daleks with proper grating, screaming Dalek voices and Romana genuinely terrified at the end of ep one is pure Who History.
Do not move! DO NOT MOVE!!

Destiny in one of those I have yet to see, though I did have the Target novelisation back in the day. I don't remember the story well, but don't remember finding it dire; is this one of those where it just isn't great on TV?

Certainly seems to be divisive. In the grand scheme of things I can't really see what's wrong with it; it's much better than some of the real rubbish from that era like the pantomime that is Creature from the Pit. Okay, so Gooderson's portrayal does diminish Wisher's a little and Davros isn't the figure he is in Genesis, but it isn't a bad story.
Actually now I come to think of it it probably is the worst of the colour Dalek stories. Oh no, no that's Death. So yes, I can't see why it's getting flack.

Wait, is someone dissing Death to the Daleks? I'm not having that! One of the all-time greats!
(ok, it was literally the only one I had on VHS in the 80s so I'm very fond of it, but still...)

This has been going on for years. There's a whole episode of the Star Dub podcast where I am a guest Ralph and Andu and I argue about it.
Any search for Destiny in the who thread will generate an instance of Alph and Andu being very wrong in this matter.

Nothing particularly controversial here. Honest.
SEASON 19 Castrovalva - 7 Four to Doomsday - 5 Kinda - 6 The Visitation - 8 Black Orchid - 7 Earthshock - 10 Time-Flight - 8
SEASON 20 Arc of Infinity - 6 Snakedance - 7 Mawdryn Undead - 9 Terminus - 9 Enlightenment - 10 The King's Demons - 7
The Five Doctors - 10
SEASON 21 Warriors of the Deep - 5 The Awakening - 8 Frontios - 6 Resurrection of the Daleks - 9 Planet of Fire - 9 The Caves of Androzani - 10
First time I've rewatched all of Davison in order. I hadn't really clicked how dark his third season is compared to the others - definitely looks like a proto-Baker season with the way the Doctor becomes more violent. If Warriors had proper lighting and a decent story, and Frontios wasn't so boring, it'd be a nigh on perfect run.

I noted the flack you got for that looking back through the thread. I think you're right - it gets a big plus simply because it's a story that actually plays with time. I think it's also a very good timelord story because of what it suggests about them. Watch it next to other stories from that time and I think it stands up well.
