I had a letter printed once but Tharg lied: letters printed does not mean you get a freebie book!!! -Ralph Probably thought the letter wasn't deserving of a book.

It was a good letter. He printed it!
It was the issue with Dredd on the cover riding his Lawmaster bike through the snow at the reader.

Tharg sent me an extra book for free recently. I guess this explains it.

Tharg sends books assuming you provide a shipping address in your email. I realised I hadn’t done this once and provided said address, after that a book appeared. It was a hachette book.

I see.
Mine was Prog #1 as my mum had a friend whose husband had collected it from the start so I would read through them when I was over.
I *think* I started to buy it when Horned God was running or when it was The Black Hole. Hars to tell as I was reading The Best of 2000ad too.

First were the Best of 2000ad's with The Dark Judges and Requiem For A Heavyweight.
Then it was prog 636 and thanks to a friend all the way back to 555 within a matter of weeks and I was onboard.

I'd like the Joe Pineapples story to stop now and go away. A waste of Clint Langley.

Walter the Wobot! SOLD!
This is interesting. One wonders if this might have legs so you have Regened for kids, Mega City Max for teens/young adults and Tooth for the old farts.
Cripes. It could be a way to train readers to grow into 2000AD like in Olden Times.

Yeah, there's a glaring gap between Beano/Pheonix and 2000ad on the shelves. Panini/Commando occupy their own wee strata slightly removed.

Mine were from a car boot sale. Never had much luck with jumble sales.
You have made me have a look for prog #3 now.

Mine wasn't. 10p from a jumble sale in the late 80s. Are you Bogatan in disguise? No, it was a bittersweet moment really. A friend and I were there purely to look for toys and comics, and he was a tooth collector too. We came across this stall and nearly fell over in surprise when we found progs 1-10 on there. The guy wanted a pound for them. We paid up, but as we'd found the issues together we split them. I had the odd numbers and he had the even. That way I had prog one, but he got the first Dredd. They were in really nice condition too. When I filled in the evens in later years they cost a lot more and weren't quite as minty.

He will be back at some point, he's had fallouts with 2000ad before. The issue is do we want him back, as I don't think ABC Warriors has done anything but look pretty and tread water for the better part of a decade now.

The two Best of 2000ad's arrived, both in good condition. Nice to see the quarterly Best Of GN series is following in the footsteps of the earlier series with a mix of material, rather than the later Best of's where it became single stories.
