So you think they might kill of Rico and give Dredd his body?
Could happen. I can see Anderson ending up being a future Chief Judge before being killed off (which will happen). Shame none of her intended replacements - Karyn, Janus really stuck.

No! Never! Dredd is Dredd. He won't go down until 2000AD itself does.

And in reverse I think if they killed Dredd 2000ad might go down without him.
I can't see him ending up in Rico's body. Rico's almost too established in his own right. Another nameless clone, yes, perhaps one who's brain failed in development.

The problem there is it creates a scenario where Dredd will live forever which would diminish the strip and the character.

Not if we get a good successor story with a clone to set it up.

But then it's not Judge Dredd!
I think there's some mileage to be had in stories with Dredd dealing with the experience, of being younger, of seeing through his own eyes again.

But is the clone not pretty much Dredd. The connections between him, Fargo and New Rico speak to them in essence being the same person more or less.

Look at Dolman, he's turned out very different without an obvious reasons unlike Rico (fall and blow to the head in rad pit) Kraken (indoctrination) Nimrod & Paris (both forms of genetic manipulation) We need to catch up with Paris and find out what happened to the baby.

Are there rum doings in the Megazine this month? The editor's letter says the issue contains a 'last' Reaper File in a way that suggests it's a one off, but then the actual 10 page strip has 'to be continued' at the end of it and it's followed by a 12 page preview of Hachette book 7. 12 page preview? Padding more like! Should we guess Clint Langley couldn't get the art for the Reaper File finished in time?

Yes, #359. It just seems odd to have a 12 page advert in the middle of it. There is also a double page Dredd artwork, which is lovely, and had it been across the centre spread would have made a nice poster - but the two halves are on separate pages. It looks like a last minute hash up to me.

Used some of my birthday money to pick up The Daily Dredd.
Well worth it, nice to see some strips I have never seen before. There's a couple of ones with repro that is not as great, but the editor advises that they couldn't track down the microfiche of all the strips so a couple were not as good as the others.
I was also previously unaware that the likes of the late Brett Ewins, John Higgins and Steve Dillon had contributed strips in the past. I had known of Ian Gibson's works from the reprints in 2000ad.
Very nice Hardback presentation.

Help me out: I've seen an advert in this week's 2000ad fro Mega Collection v7 but I can't identify the stories in it from the cover which says it's called The Heavy Mob.
Blurb on website says
"When the chips are down and even a Judge’s highly powerful arsenal of weapons isn’t enough, who are you gonna call? Thankfully, there are divisions within Justice Department that cater for every catastrophe, and the heavily armoured Holocaust Squad and Marine Corps are there to lend support."
Any ideas?

The intro also says that there are two other military wing volumes to come, one collecting The Corps and Maelstrom, and the other the excellent Insurrection saga.
I liked this volume a lot; it's a really nicely themed collection of stories spanning a long period. It's nice to see things like that brought together to compare.

Good. Is there a schedule?
I was a bit surprised this month to only get one book. I'm wondering if they're trying to get everyone in the same place now the initial newsagent phase is coming to an end. My billing date has changed. Have you had book 8 yet?

There has been one, it was talked about on the Thrillcast, and Waugh was supposed to be the 5th or 6th release.
My last delivery was Mandroid and The Heavy Mob.

But because 1 order was sent as just 1 book instead of 2, I am up to date and will get 8 and 9 at the same time.
No idea what 9 is.

Awesome. That'll do nicely.
I see Andy. My last was The Heavy Mob alone, so I suppose it just means they're aligning everyone to be sending out the same books at the same time. Next parcel for me should be 8&9.

Ooh. So we'll soon know if the rumblings about it being complete are true. I see 3A have shown their second figure. Interesting approach for a 2000AD line, first Death and then Sam Slade. Looks quite nice.
