Just read this weeks Tooth... Yep, the Dredd story is bleak even by Dredd standards. A more comprehensive example of a phyrric victory wouldn't be easy to find. It is good though. As and when this stuff gets traded I could definitely go picking it up.
As to the Dark Judges.... imprisonment of any kind for them is like a vacation - they will always be back at some point, as inevitable as the rain.

Having just got back into 2000AD again recently, what Dredd stories proceeded Day of Chaos and are any of them traded? -Ralph I'd say the trades you really want are probably Total War (oop), Satan's Island and Tour of Duty (2 volumes, Backlash comes first) Just read this weeks Tooth... ABC Warriors trailer done a few years ago now for an animated show that never got off the ground. John Wagner and David Bishop talked about this at Glasgow Comic Con.

My library now has the new trade of The Pit in its stocks, so I snagged it for reading this weekend. Good stuff it was too. Liked the Assault on Precinct Thirteen homage, and the general "one good cop to turn around a bad stationhouse" schtick to the story - the final resolution to it all has that great sense of fitting irony that Dredd does so well as a strip.

The colourist varies between John Burns who worked on 2000ad and somebody Landau who I assume is related to the editor Nick Landau of Titan & FP fame. The Bolland cover for JD#23 is one of my favourite pieces of Dredd art ever.

Now I am back in the routine of reading 2000AD, I've switched to digital. I would prefer unlimited downloads rather than 3 per issue (I tend to go through a lot of computers) but the issues are 36p cheaper and don't take up room. My days of wanting to have comics cluttering up valuable space are behind me.
I opened it up in Ibooks and it reads fine off the Ipad.

This does also mean my falling back into the well of Tooth is complete. I've usually always fallen out of it again due to lack of space to store issues or forgetting to buy it some weeks.

I'm still buying Tooth from the newsagent at the moment - but I tend to keep any given prog long enough for a couple of reads and then recycle it as a method of dealing with the space issue. This is however a temporary measure.
I will be going digital but it won't happen until I get a tablet of some sort. My current Mac is not really a particularly comfortable platform for reading comics. If I do eventually get myself a tablet of some sort then I will migrate quite a bit over to digital very happily.

It has come to Tharg's attention that there is some kind of sporting event on. Seems remarkably tame compared to the Mega-Olympics.

Following that I dug out my copy of the Taxidermist tpb and re-read the Olympic story. Fabulous, just fabulous. Wagner loves his sports parodies and this is one of the best ones. If you haven't read it get a copy.
