Doc', clearly you're as mad a cat in a sack, liking Uni Blaster indeed!!! Usually I'd say 'each to their own', but not this time! That Blaster is a mocery and has prob ruined any chance of a 'proper' Classics Blaster (wheaps). How is it a mockery? I honestly don't understand. Besides the original Blaster toy still exists (available as a re-issue), which does the job for me. I also like the Action Master version. -Ralph

Because, because it's just a really lazzy repaint! Blaster is Soundwave's arch nemesis, and vise versa, they're not twins or anything! I know they were both 'casset-decks' but they were totally different designs. Blaster is a brilliant legendary character who deserves his own mold! *shakes with emotion/chin quivers*.
And yup, AM is coolio! G1 I don't possess, but considering he is HUGE, he more fits in with the MP/Alt world that Classics! But yup, great toy.

Well it depends which version of Blaster you like, I suppose. I only recall Blaster being the nemesis of Soundwave in the Headmasters toon. I'm a fan of the comics version of Blaster (a completely different character) so I have no issue with a Soundwave mould being recoloured as Blaster. -Ralph

Yeah - I actually see Ralph's point here. If we take Blaster as a comics hero - he was very set apart from any groups or "vs" kind of theme - he was his own 'bot - and in that sense taking the shape of a space ship would not be beyond him. Classics Powerglide having a heart in his chest is a VERY NICE touch. The Micromaster version is in homage of Stormwave. Now - here's my big Classics challenge: CREATE CLASSICS TECHNOBOT LIGHTSPEED... His special feature? Make him a TRIPLE CHANGER: He can finally get the flight mode he's always dreamed of dyrl

I think Dyrl's right, if memory serves. Lightspeed wanted to be an 'interstellar cruiser'. Not sure he should be reincarnated into a triple changer, but I'm all for Classics/Universe Technobots, with Lightspeed as a space ship (seems to fit his name better me tinks).

And to fight them CLASSICS TERRORCONS!!!!! How cool would that be?! I love the Terrorcons!
Have to say though, I think Powerglide having a heart is, just, so crapy it may actually destroy the spacetime continuum. Based on a cartoon episode isnit? Bla.

"The Girl Who Loved Powerglide", one of my favourite episodes. Largely because it was one of the first episodes (in fact one of the first videos) I ever owned. The cardboard slipcase edition, from the bargain bin in Woolworths.
Does the toy's heart flash? That would be great.

I love that episode, he took on the 3 coneheads and survived & 'specially the bit at the end with megatron I wonder if Moonracer would actually care of his relationship with a human? aaaaaw that would be sweet though if he had a little flashing heart.

Silverbolt looks the same to me. -Ralph To be honest I'd actually have prefered to see Onslaught have white in a lot of the places where they have used the gold. The Powerglide is much of a muchness for me, I'm not that fond of either the red or the white scheme on that mold to be honest. The Silverbolt doesn't look too bad - that is actually the first picture I've seen where I can make out the shape of the aircraft mode. Karl

While the Takara version does look more "Powerglidey", a red A-10 doesn't make much sense although, as usual, I never gave it much thought when I was 5. Frankly I prefer the Hasbro one if only because it looks so much like Star Saber. EDIT: I'm not entirely sure how well Hasbro Powerglide will sell over here, given that a random "Movie Ultra" box showed up in Toys'r'us a couple of weeks back bearing Jetstorm who is also a big grey jet and Wingblade who is a big grey A-10. Will kids go for three chunky grey jets in a row? Assuming kids are liable to get more than one, of course. -Nick

Quite like the Wingblade, it is a good mold and that is a rather nice colour scheme on him. Not so fond of the Jetstorm, but that is more that I don't really rate the mold anyway. Karl

I am still undecided on these, waiting for better pictures.
But I am very-so grateful to Takara for releasing pictures of their versions as we are in a better position as consumers to make a more informed choice. Plus it's nice to actually have the choice.
"Powerglide, sir? This one's a classic. Red or white?"
"Um, do you have rose?"

Nick, your link points to loads of movie news articles. What are these Movies Ultras you speak of? I'm not sure what they are.
As for Powerglide's colour, I never was bothered as a kid. It was a Red Plane. I still have no idea what an A-10 is!

Carries the most fearsome gun of any single seat aircraft (fires shells the size of milk-bottles and a truly horrendous rate f fire.). Originally built for killing Soviet tanks, is these days used in a more general fire-support role. The two twin-tailed, twin-engined aircraft that the special forces blokes call in to try and shoot up Skorpornok in the 2007 movie whilst they are in Qatar (Before giving up and calling down the wrath of Go... er, and AC-130) are A-10's. Or, if you prefer:- Picture - click meOne of them. Karl

A late night ramble from the tired mind of Shockprowl.
Classics. If you look at what characters we've had, and the ones comming out soon- with more on the way hopefully, it's a decent haul. Plenty more charcters to go obviously, but it got me thinking, when would I be happy? When would the fandom be happy? Will I be happy with new fig versions of all the Ark crashies? All the Ark crashies and then the 'second wave' of G1 figs (Cone-Heads, Blitzwing, Smokescreen etc etc). New Classics figs of ALL OF G1?!
I'd never be interested in all of G1 redone in Classics (that'd be crazy, CRAZY), upto and including the Predacon/Blaster/Battlecharger kinda level is my favorate era of TFs. It'd be pretty tempting to attempt the get a collection of all those characters (barring the characters I'm not fussed 'bout like Powerglide, and the cursed Wheelie). But blimey, what an expensive and laborious task it would be. Quickly adding up characters in my head I'm approaching the 80 - 100 mark. Divorce territory. At least a beating with MP Ops and Megs territory.
So, I think all the Ark crashies and a few others (the odd special team, Wreckers, Predacons, 'wave 2' Decepts') would be a very nice Classics collection. Think I'd be happy at that.

The Fandom (capital F, capital T) will never be happy. Somebody on some message board somewhere would be incensed that there isn't a Classics Roadfire or Bulletbike or someone equally obscure that happens to be their favourite/first Transformer. I think the only way for The Fandom to remain relatively content is for the Classics/Universe line to keep going. As long as characters are still coming out, Classics Roadhandler/Splashdown/guy on the far left of the panning shot of the destroyed Autobot colony at the start of Cosmic Rust will still exist 'in potentia' and hope remains.

Plenty more charcters to go obviously, but it got me thinking, when would I be happy? When would the fandom be happy? Two very distinct questions here I'd say. The first one, obviously, is one that only your good self can answer. The second can only be answered , as Nick already has, never. Fandom not being a single mind, contains a wide variety of different an mutually irreconcilable views. (For example, many folk want an Ironhide and Ratchet that is as similar to the cartoon animation model as possible. But there are some who don't actually like the animation model at all, so aren't likely to be very happy with such a toy). If there is one thing I have learned it is that it is not possible to make all of a fandom, any fandom happy simultaneously. The best you can do, if you are that way inclined, is appease as close to a majority at any given time. (But don't worry, Universe has plenty of legs as a "support" line I'd say. There are options for another two live-action movies, so I'd say that the inevitable contraction of interest in Transformers probably won't happen for another three of four years at least.) Karl
