Looking forward to taking part in the possible collab comic, Straxus Strive, Quiz of Doom(?), and other fun.
It's better to overplan than underplan I say, Karl.
Save me a Decoy for Saturday please, Martin.

So! Friday's getting close. What time will the Scots be at Cardiff Central station? Martin Having checked the Rhoose-Cardiff train times I am anticipating that we will get to Central at either 5:22 or 5:39 depending on whether we land on time and how long it takes us to get our luggage and scram to Rhoose station. (There is an outside chance we could make it by 4:39 but realistically that seems vanishingly unlikely). In terms of getting to Swindon I figure that we are probably looking at, hopefully, the 5:55pm from Cardiff (arriving at 6:57pm) or - should we have issues with getting tickets and whatnot at Central - the 6:25pm (arriving at 7:27pm). One of us can confirm by mobile communications device which robot train we snag, but I would plan on the assumption we will be arriving at Swindon at 6:57ish. Probably best to assume that we will rendezvous with you at about half-five on Friday evening Martin. Karl

Some exciting non TF toy items have been located and are winging their way to the DFiS. Hammers are not involved.

Probably best to assume that we will rendezvous with you at about half-five on Friday evening Martin. Sounds good to me. In the main entrance foyer / ticket-buying area? In other news, I popped into the new retro gaming and comics shop near the Museum, which has Scorponok standing in the window. In display cases in the shop they also have an original Metroplex, Galvatron and Sixshot, G2 Sideswipe and various other things. On a top shelf there is a boxed Pretender Grimlock. I did not enquire as to asking prices. Anyway, they're apparently open 9 till 7 on weekdays. They also have a pile of 'Beast Wars Sourcebooks' going for £9.99. Is it any good? Martin

I wouldn't know. GRRRRR! Ask Gav, he's got a copy.
The individual issues were quite good: It's basically BW Universe

No no do not listen to Phil, the BW Sourcebook is generally seen as the nadir of the IDW range. It was put together extremely last minute, it sucks all the fun and humour out of Beast Wars, presenting everything as GRIM AND GRITTY, the layout is terrible (there are lots of huge white spaces), there are some very odd choices made, some terrible terrible art too. A lot was fixed for the trade (for example, they did BB/Starscream in neon orange rather than purple/black ) but it still left a lot to be desired. I wouldn't say it was the nadir as Mike Costa was not involved, but it was pretty lifeless.
BEAST WARS MUST BE SERIOUS, GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

OK, thanks. I'm not a Beast Wars fan anyway, so it would have taken a unanimous TMUK endorsement along the lines of "This is a fitting continuation of what Budiansky began" to get me to buy it.

I remember the dinobot art from the original issue was replaced for the trade because it was so awful, but I can't find the original now.

[ Sounds good to me. In the main entrance foyer / ticket-buying area? I figure that will be fine by us. And as to the Beast Wars Sourcebook.... No, it is not good. The only joy it brought me was the schadenfraude of watching Gavin reading Ralph's copy. Karl

Makes me wish I got my pic taken with Bok now . Nice group shot, will have to decoupage Martin in there sometime I'll sort through my pics but will take a while to sort, as they are large CRZ files mostly at 10MB a peice. Really pleased with the pics and hope you guys will be too. Glad I finally got some sleep. I was a bit fried after a previous rough night with the little un'. I am glad that despite the train messup she ended up attending her first TMUK meet and George also in a very long time. Nice seeing you all again. Gotta do it again soon. ===KEN

The TMUK travel curse has struck Turn, Burn & McV en route to Cardiff in the form of a massive signal failure.
