Forgive my ignorance, but isn't his mask the wrong colour?

All the TMNT had red masks to begin with. Only with the cartoon did they differentiate with the colours.
As far as i'm aware.

That is correct . The new figures will also be in the black and white variant seen in the other pic.

This is where it all started nearly 25 years ago. There was no teddy bear eyes, There was no Pizza (ninjas don't eat loads of carbs!), There was NO cowabunga, and Shredder did'nt have a nagging wife named Krang or two goofy foster children called Bebop and Rocksteady... These ninjas did'nt walk around in the daytime neither or flew around in a giant blimp advertising thier whereabouts... These ninjas brought up and trained for 15 years to carry out the revenge agenda of thier sensei always showed no mercy. They killed, they sliced and diced thier enemies with no remorse. There was death, there was blood, there was true butt kickin' ninja action. I present. The real TMNT. ===KEN

Ooh, and they all have red masks. (That'll confuse the kids.)
Nice paint detailing on those.

That's how they started out, with the red masks. It confuses the adults too since TMNT started life as a mature comic. I think the only good thing the abomination that is the old cartoon ever did was introduce coloured masks (sadly these included pupils). I love the weapons on these too - Mikey has proper chains on his chucks and Leo can hold a sword with two hands. ===KEN

I think the only good thing the abomination that is the old cartoon ever did was introduce coloured masks. Though one colour makes it look more of a uniform, whilst different colours are more of a costume. A subtle distinction, but from what little I know of the comics, a gang-like uniform would seem more appropriate for the edgier medium.

Although I liked the original cartoon I do believe that it was a missed opportunity to not have the turtles portrayed as they were originally created.

Like the Sin City toyline there are also colourless variants too. However they are white with black outline rather than black and white film style. I may get those too. Other figures coming out are April, Shredder and Foot Solider with Splinter and Leatherhead both rumoured. The April figure will be in her original dark blue jumpsuit but I beleive a yellow variant is very likely as with coloured bandanas of the TMNT bros. ===KEN

Well... Here's the upcoming 25th Anniversary figures from Playmates, well re-issues anyway. I would have expected some colour and deco improvements at least with todays figure technology. Seems like all the attention is turning towards the new Star Trek and Terminator lines. Not sure why, but I am happy to see these back even though I'm doubting I'd get any.

I recentley found out that some allegedly unproduced TMNT figures have hit the UK. More or less stumbled upon during an ebay evening. Click meThese are part of the Mini Mutants subline and are the 4th/5th wave. Leo VS Shredder Raph VS Foot Soldier Don VS Hun Mike VS Rat King I managed to acquire the Leo VS Shredder set already, but I have a feeling these are retailing a lot cheaper in places like Home Bargains or Poundstretcher. I've not found any. If anyone sees these down thier end of the map do let me know. I am also happy to own doubles or trebles of these. ===KEN

I have a pretty good chunk of the original TMNT toyline (But even as a kid I eventually got sick of the endless Turtle variants).
But after Toyfair this year, the new TMNT mainline has me more excited than *anything* else. I love the new look, I love getting more back to basics (A lot of the stuff in the 2003 series was a pretty big turnoff for me). And best yet.. METALHEAD AND LEATHERHEAD!!!! Here's hoping for a new Wingnut & Screwloose! pleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleaseplease! (And I won't shy away from Mondo Gecko, Ray Fillet, Jagwar, Dreadmon, Mona Lisa, or Ninjara, either)

BBTS has cancelled all preorders for the monsterous Sewer Lair playset, citing that Playmates has moved it to being a store exclusive. On top of that, Playmates has said all TMNT figures ship exclusively to the US.

I know. Had a chat with Kapow Toys about it. Playmates have put on an export embargo.
The release date for the new figs is a year from now, but by that time it will probably be Movie stuff on the horizon.

Any idea what the business logic is behind telling 95% of your potential customers to f*** off?

That is a good question. It does seem rather odd. Unless they are trying to avoid a fight with someone else who now owns a merchandise license for the rest of the world?

I wondered if it has anything to do with the censorship the originals were under, on top of looking at the fiasco Hasbro recently went through with "Spastic."

Mystery parcel came this morning containing the new Shredder and Raphael figures. Still on the quest to find out who my mystery benefactor is. Really stoked!
