On a related note as it is in the toy section, the 50th anniversary board game has turned up in Sainsburgeries in the 'third off' section. I am tempted, despite most games of this ilk being pump. The Star Trek one wasn't that great and was swiftly Oxfam bound!

Finally scored a K-0. Had no idea there was an RC variant. Fitting idea!

I have the 7th and 10th Doctor and Dalek sets.
Also got for Christmas early, The SDCC Ace Revolution of the Daleks exclusive.

I picked up the Claws of Axos Forbidden Planet exclusive yesterday and was pleased to find that the Jo Grant figure has a new head sculpt, much improved on the one that came with the Three Doctors set last year. This one almost looks like Katy Manning and the figure in general is nicer than the last one. The Brig in this set too is a great companion to the previous one. Superb figures.
This just leaves me with The Daemons set and the Talking Genesis Dalek to go for a full set of the classics line. Such a shame it looks like it's finishing, these have been great fun to collect.

Daemons set arrived today by mail order, bought in frustration after not finding it in Forbidden Planet at the weekend. So that's that then. Character Options 5" Doctor Who Classics, tick. I've absolutely nothing left to buy.
The only hints of future releases are the possibility of a 5" twin pack for SDCC, but no confirmation of whether that's new or classic series, and apparently we're getting two more Dalek repaint three packs in the summer. One from TRU and the other B&M, both themed on Asylum of the Daleks and one with three classic Daleks in and the other with three new series ones.
The 1/4 scale RC K9 is getting a re-release too with new John Leeson recorded voices, but that's the wrong scale.

Still much prefer five inch action (no pun intended).
Definitely want that Ace repaint, mainly for the boom box.

I'm not usually a fan of Lego type toys, but my last order from bbcshop.com came with a free blind bag character building mini figure. Turned out to be the First Doctor. Quite a cute figure, although his eyes have been stamped on wonky. I could quite go for a set of those.

Al Dewar is showing off classic Daleks at the smaller scale. There's a Genesis already in the next wave, but today he showed these: I would dearly love that sixties deco RTD model, but only at 5 inches.

I don't think there'll be anything that big in the 5" line now. It's only holding on by the skin of its teeth through what Underground Toys want to bring out, which we get through specialist retailers like Forbidden Planet over here. Character themselves are firmly focused on the 3.75" line. There was supposed to be a new classic Dalek set this summer - bashed up Asylum Dalek versions - but it hasn't materialised. There haven't been any classics 5" releases since January, and those sets had been announced almost a year earlier than that. The only thing coming is the Ace remould with boom box. Then the only new series 5" figures coming are guaranteed sellers, ie a set with Capaldi's head in, and a Clara clearly aimed at older collectors rather than the ones that have come out in the 3.75" scale. Both of those are backed with remoulds of the Matt Smith figure. Character won't do 5" figures by themselves, it takes a retailer to order them specifically from them, so I think the days of the big sets in those scales are long gone. Edit: There are the reissues of older 5" new series figures from B&M that are just coming out. But there's nothing new there. They're good value though at £13.

I've been seeing the Dalek 3pk for £13 in B&M for the past year.

Yes, that's a great pack for that price given what it used to cost on ebay before B&M reissued it. They've got three new ones just coming out now. Three packs with three figures from the new series 4, 5 and 6.
They were supposed to be releasing a new 5" Dalek three pack of classic Daleks in Asylum dirtied colours, but it hasn't arrived.

FP started shipping the new Ace and Impossible Girl sets this week. Mine came yesterday. The Ace does have some remoulded elements but probably isn't sufficiently different to the last to make it worth owning both, unless you're a completist, but it is very nice to have a 5" Jenna Coleman figure, even as Oswin rather than something more recognisably Clara. Given that set has a Snowmen version of Matt Smith in it too, it'd have made more sense to give us the Victorian Clara instead.

Doctor Who sonic screwdrivers were marked down to £3.75 in Tesco Silverburn today. And when I went to the checkout they rang up as £2.50. £2.50! How can you resist?

That is a very good price! If it wasn't for having enough screwdriverage already I'd be tempted too. Which reminds me, must get new power cells for my laser screwdriver...

I'm not sure of the syntax for twitter links so I'll just do this the normal way... Twitter LinkLovely looking Night of the Doctor McGann but apparently this is destined for the smaller scale. Although the detail on the head sculpt makes it look bigger than that.

Fixed the link.
Just paste the link in, that should do the trick. I'll clean up anything that's a problem. Cutting anything off after the big number helps

Dewar has also shown new 3.75 sculpts for the two slat-less Hartnell style Daleks and the Planet supreme. I'm gutted things are moving in that direction. Doubly that this Mcgann is the first classic figure, albeit only partly, that is only in the smaller scale.
Here's hoping now the sculpt exists that underground will get on the case and do us a five inch one.

I see now pro boards parses the link and automatically embeds it if it sees it's a tweet. But it only takes the bit of the link it wants and spits the rest out the end. Got it!

Lovely looking Night of the Doctor McGann but apparently this is destined for the smaller scale. Although the detail on the head sculpt makes it look bigger than that. That is rather nice. And the good thing about it being 3-3/4 scale is that it fits in well with most of my other action figures. I might well get this so that he can team up with Action Force - wouldn't want time travel technology getting into the hands of the Evil Forces of Cobra! Karl

Character seem to be all over the place these days with where they want to release toys and focus their lines. Al Dewar (the guy responsible for the line at Character Options) tends to tweet a lot of stuff which never materialises (eg where has the McGann he showed gone?), but there were some reveals at SDCC I'd not noticed that warrant attention. That being new 5 inch scale figures of Capaldi (previously in this scale he was only available as a regeneration head swap figure in Matt Smith's last costume), a Clara repaint of the last release with what looks like new feet to me, but most excitingly - a figure of Tom Baker's Curator: These *seem* to be the first figures in a new intended Collectors' range. Dewar has for a long time been mooting the idea of a 'black series' type range to relaunch the 5 inch scale, but it always seems to get nixed. Originally it was going to be classic series characters with all the companions people ask for but never got, but at least things seem to be moving now.
