Bit more info has surfaced on this year's sets, which clears up a couple of questions. There's an attachment on this GB post: gallifreybase.com/gb/threads/classic-series-toys-merchandise-part-31.259871/page-268#post-13400978Wave 1 is due September (later than usual, but given the way things are this date could go forwards, backwards or even sideways) and Wave 2 November. There's only one Dalek History set in the first wave, which will be the Planet set with the Supreme in. The second wave also only has one Dalek two pack, which would be a pair from Death to the Daleks, but there's also the Dalek & Davros two pack, which I guess will be branded as Dalek History too. The fact that one's £25 instead of £22 like the others might mean an additional accessory, or it might just be that Davros needs a lot more paint apps than a standard Dalek.

There have been four Genesis Dalek releases before, so it's probable given we've had army builder sets in the History line that there will be another Genesis two pack with grey drones in next year. The old Forbidden Planet Genesis four pack had two Daleks with slightly different trims around their bases to reflect the different studio props used. I reckon Davros and his original Mk3 travel machine will be the release this year, then next year there'll be a Genesis two pack like the Planet one last year.

Quite a big gap from the last releases to this new ones and then they all turn up within 3 months of each other? Mad.
Interesting that they're going down to one Dalek pack at a time rather than two. I would usually think that meant they'd oversaturated the market but those sets are always gold dust!!!

I've always thought it odd that for the last few years we get two waves a year but they're virtually on top of each other. Must be something to do with the way they're produced. For the first couple of B&M years the releases were more erratic, but better spread out.

More spread out would be better for my nerves, given how hard it is to find these things instore!

Absolutely. I dread July coming round and having that nonsense to deal with. At least we know now not to expect the insanity until the autumn. It would be nice if they were getting the message though that there just aren't enough of the Dalek sets. It's not as though they're in equal numbers to the three packs but get scalped more -the B&Ms near me can only get a couple of cases at best, some none at all, compared to loads of the three packs.

Maybe there is only one Dalek 2-pack at a time this year so they can make more of them so there are plenty on shelves for folk to find.
Well, I can dream.

I forgot to mention, last time I was doing a random b&m check there was a shelf ticket for the evil/planet dalek sets marked as '£5 reduced to £1'. I could not believe what I was seeing. Of course there were no sets there, but that pricing is so mad it made me think something suspicious was going on.

If the rumours about the TARDIS set this Christmas being an electronic First Doctor & TARDIS then this set will drop quite a bit I think.

Well those are boring. There's very little there that hasn't already been out before. Slight repaints for the Doctors and those Daleks have all been out before except the transparent one; last time that was half clear and half black.
The ragged tenth inspired by a comic is just Matt Smith's first figure with Tennant's head on it!

Oh. Oh I see, character. Like that is it. Packaging change on the Dalek sets! No plastic window on the front.

I am not happy about this. The History of the Daleks are a rare example of me keeping toys in their packaging. Now they won't match!

I am right there with you. Mine are all in box. Not a good thing at all, must be a reduced plastic use thing.
The box looks the same to me, just no plastic window. The toys are held in by a vac formed bubble over them. Also, no diorama behind them.

Hmmm. Al at CO usually enthusiastically talks up the diaromas. He seemed especially excited that the last lot of 3-packs had them as a new thing.
Budget cuts?

I was going to cynically cite budget cuts for the lack of plastic window, but surely the vac-formed plastic bubbles are actually using up more plastic than a simple flat window? And surely they'd have to be specifically produced for each set, rather than using the same shape as similar-sized boxes have? This looks more expensive and wasteful to me. Very strange.
