Still, I stand ready to hit the less-magical Castlemilk B&M when word spreads that these sets have been found.
Which will of course be this Sunday. And they'll be on eBay by Monday.

The only thing I can think of for both of these issues is that there isn't a plastic support behind the toys now, just the sheet over them holding them against the backing card. If that's glued on or the figures are tied to the backing card then they'd be reducing plastic but also a diorama would get wrecked by having plastic stuck to it or tie holes through it.

Hmmm. That could explain it.
AND THIS IS HOW THE DALEKS WILL WIN.

If it's a made to order thing, or a crowd-funded release, I really hope it's either a Hartnell console or the Dalek Emperor. Either of those would be great centre-pieces for the other toys.

I wouldn't expect that much in the way of moulding. This is a very low budget line.

The wording on the press release just seems odd, with things like “advance warning of details of a very special product offer for Doctor Who fans” and “This is something you will want to be part of”.

Indeed. Hurndall would be in continuity and far more desirable. Bradley isn't actually a real Doctor. Cushing... Well. We'd be having street parties.

Bradley isn't actually a real Doctor. I feel like this should be a controversial statement.

Yeah, I forgot about the episode with Capaldi. I was just thinking Adventures in Space and Time. I suppose he has portrayed the First Doctor in a TV episode so he's as legit as Hurndall.

He is the only actor to fail in the role of The Doctor, in my opinion. Yeah, I'd be inclined to agree with you - which is a shame, because I think he had the potential to be good in the role. But instead of playing The First Doctor he played what everyone thinks they remember was The First Doctor as played by their stereotyped memory of William Hartnell. Which is not the same thing...

The sightings thread on GB indicates the new wave are appearing in shops now. I did check one b&m on Friday but didn't see any, didn't realize at the time they were actually out.

Dalek sets 9 & 10 if you see them, please. Being Planet of the Daleks with the gold and black leader, and Death to the Daleks which is two silver ones. Dalek packs never appear in the B&Ms round here so it'll be eBay for me probably.

Alas the Castlemilk B&M did not bear any fruit - which was frustrating since I was after a cucumber. And also it had no new Doctor Who figures. The quest continues…
Although I am starting to wonder if it was an anomaly of lockdown that caused that B&M to have decent stock a couple of years back. Now that the pandemic is apparently over it’s stock is a lot less interesting…
