I thought a GI Joe 2 was a go, just that they were looking for a director?

That is the current status, but it's yet to get a formal green-light or release date. Still, it's further forward than the in-limbo again Star Trek movies.

Well, good news that it looks like they'll be a film 4 (WILL IT BE A REBOOT?!?!). And, although I have obv not seen the 3rd film yet, I'd be happy that Bay isn't involved. The crap story-line of the 2nd film left me feeling soiled for Bay, I'm afraid. Let's see something/someone new for the 4th film! (ofcourse if the 3rd film is brilliant I'll be eating my hat) Hey, if it is a 'Reboot' (everythings a reboot these days it seems!), what form will it take? Will Transformers itself Transformer?!?! O.M.G!!!

I don't care who directs it, or whether the films are rebooted. Just hire a writer who will bring some modicrum of intelligence and imagination to it. That's all I ask.

I suppose I could take a reboot if Christopher Nolan did it. But I'd much prefer it to be a new story arc in the same continuity. We really don't need to see the live-action Transformers arrive on Earth and blow humans' minds for the first time all over again. (The 2007 film didn't do that side of it too badly, after all.)

I suppose I could take a reboot if Christopher Nolan did it. And if it starred Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman, Liam Neeson and Rutger Hauer. But not otherwise. Martin

Is Spider-Man 4 still going to be a reboot? I've read conflicting reports.
If, as a reboot, it's a box office smash, I imagine that's the way a lot of film "franchises" will go after the initial trilogy.
UNLESS! The fourth film is a prequel and/or focuses on just one character on a mission to another world/timeline with a new supporting cast.

My guess is Transformers 4 will be a movie-version of the Transformers comic where Landmine and Cloudburst are stuck in a planet full of Amazon sex goddesses.
It'll start out with two hunky guys in battle armor getting ensnared by the girls, and end with Cloudburst revealing that he's a robot "at heart"
They might well change the ending to fit the "happy ending holywood" style though...

Pete Tell me, Pete: Do you eat a lot of cheese before going to bed at night? they could do that - it would save money on CGI - if you had pretenders in it & only for a few scenes we see them in robot mode. If they did Masterforce. Also be good if SS does do some stuff in the films instead of just having his name on it & then getting his name in the "getting rid of Fox" story.

It's amazing to me, but I don't think I will pay to go to see TF4 if it's going to be more of the same. The fact I haven't even downloaded the first trilogy, let alone paid for the dvds (and yet have loads of crap TF product of one type or another), says all there is to say about Mr Bay's 'efforts'.

Sort of been hinted that they are filming 4,5 at same time. So is this going to be another Matrix 2,3 with few month gap between film releases.

I'm done with the TF films to be honest. While the third had a certain Frank Miller-esque madness which made it watchable in a once-only sort of way, three films in and I am pretty sure these fucking awful films just aren't for me. There are only so many crude jokes in a film that should be suitable for kids that I can take.

I'm becoming more and more bitter that Bay is doing it (after he said he wouldn't, the liar). I can handle to rubbish robot characterisation, the generic baddies, the thin plots, just so long as the fighting's good and the film general falls into the 'candy for the brain' category (even though Transformers live action could be so much more, obviously), but as Doc' says, it's the crude juvenile jokes throughout that ruins it for me.
