Age of Extinction is on Channel 4 at the moment. I know no one is interested in this fact, but it took me by surprise.

My opinion of this film is taking a real hammering here. I thought this one was okay? I remember it being okay.
It's not okay.

It was the one I thought was ok in the cinema but I tried to see it again when it was on Netflix and it was unwatchable.

Have been trying to decide since leaving the cinema yesterday whether I liked it or not. Part of me is thinking, come on, what were you expecting, there were some great moments there; part of me was really deflated by it - moreso than the last three. I knew if I started trying to write what I was thinking down I'd be there for hours; maybe bullet points like stomski is the way to go. Seems I feel the same now as I did five years ago. At least that's consistent. WAIT. Five years and a month since AoE came out!

I think it's an improvement due to the fact that the transformers get treated as something vaguely like characters, and the dinosaurs were actually pretty good dinosaurs, and pretty accurate. Unlike that other "dinosaur" movie that was out around then.
When Bay does better dinosaurs than the current installment of the JP franchise, you know things got borked.

Age of Extinction is on Channel 4 at the moment. I know no one is interested in this fact, but it took me by surprise. Leading up to the "network premiere" of The Last Knight next week, apparently. Watched some of it. The contrast with Bumblebee is incredible. So different. Martin

Watching any of the first five movies after watching Bumblebee is basically realizing we all had Stockholm Syndrome for the last ten years.

That is a very good point.

Also, the titles would make so much more sense, if they were reversed.
AoE really had nothing to do with extinction. But Optimus was identified as the Last Knight of Cybertron.
And TLK was absolutely brimming with surviving knights. Everyone was tripping over them there were so many. It may have even been one of the three dozen plots in it. However, they were actively trying to prevent the extinction of all life on earth.

I just realized the plot of AoE basically boils down to Hasbro vs 3P Copyright Infringers.
Some dude in a factory in china basically wants to make his own Optimus Prime and Bumblebee. The engineering is far more intricate than the real deal, and the surface details are changed just enough.

All three disc are stacked together. Gotta take thetop two off to get to the bottom one.
The transforming case is way cheape than the 2007 case. Flimsier, smaller and fewer steps in the tran...... conversion.
Think I may track down the other transforming cases at some point.
