Might be of interest to Urzu and Grahame Been busy, so I've only just found this thread but this is glorious and if anyone wants to treat me (Christmas soon, y'know) then I will absolutely accept this. Not sure what the Black'n'gold one is supposed to be? G2 Dragstrip?

I think it's just a nice deco. MMC's name for the original toy is Sphinx and this one is called Pharaoh. They're claiming a link to Halloween using 'the mummy' as the connection. Apparently there have been Halloween inspired repaints of toys at TFCon before.

That MMC one has been done loads of times. It's one of MMC's best moulds (rumoured to have been designed by a Takara MP designer). I can think of nine versions off the top of my head.

I knew there was the toy and cartoon versions, and these two bring it up to four, but nine?

Toy Cartoon v1 (lighter blue) Cartoon v2 (reduced detail) Clear (think it was a con exclusive) Half clear left side (con exclusive) Half clear right side (another con exclusive same time) Red & white (that Diaclone?) G2 Pharaoh

The half clear ones looked amazing, but they were like £150 each when they came out.

Ok... News from TFCon: Fans Toys have announced a Fortress Maximus. 3 foot 9 inches. The Hot Rod in that image is their MP scale one.

I'm wondering if Unicon has reset the bar in terms of what 3P companies think people are willing to pay for top tier toys. FT's Omega was a big bugger and that was £280. If FT thought they had £600 of someone's money to play with, it probably wouldn't be far off this. I'm glad I'm not an FT completist any more though. I definitely don't need this. Not going '87 with MPs. Movie is the cut off for me.

Much as I'm a fan of Fort Max I can see this one being prohibitively expensive, so I'll most certainly pass. (And besides, if I was going to drop that much money on a huge Transformer I would've pre-ordered Unicron. And I didn't.) For me this is slightly disappointing since... it's just Fort Max. And it doesn't seem to be anything particularly special. Aside from being big. Sure, it looks to have a better city mode than the Titans Return release, but still. The thing that's going to not see me selling on my Maketoys Pandinus when Hasbro's Titan-class Scorponok comes out is that Pandinus is very different, and does different and interesting things. And sure, I know that's not what most people will want, but for me that's what the attraction is of other companies playing with these properties. Anyway, TFW has a round-up of all the 3P stuff that was shown at TFCon here: news.tfw2005.com/2019/10/26/tfcon-dc-2019-3rd-party-panel-in-full-399431 Not a lot that interests me. In fact, the Iron Factory stuff just frustrates me. We saw most of this last year! Get a move on! ;-) And not a single image of the MMC Chromedome, which is what generated the most excitement in this household. Weird...

THREE FEET TALL!!!

And nine inches. It's mad. We'd all just adjusted to the fact that at 27" tall, Unicron will be honking massive, but then this would be 45. 45 inches tall. That's almost twice as high as the Generations Fort Max.

This is almost comical, but I guess if you're going for a toon accurate Menasor then this is one way to do it. It seems DX9's Motormaster is a self contained toy that forms the cab of the full truck. Then the trailer unfolds into a complete skeleton that the four limbs just plug into in car mode... I reckon the Motormaster just makes a ball that gives the Menasor body weight.

I really want the lightning bug! My youngest MUST NEVER KNOW that a representation of the Lightning Bug exists! She was fascinated by it in the cartoon and planned an entire story-stch where the Autobots saved it and it become, you guessed it, a goodie. SHE MUST NEVER KNOW!!!

What's the point of a combiner that doesn't actually need any of it's five components?

Must. Have. Toon. Accuracy!
Mind you, I jest, but I can't see the Fans Toys one being much different and I'm in on that.

What's the point of a combiner that doesn't actually need any of it's five components? But yeah, absolutely. It's just.... weird. But then again, G1 Motor Master is weird. Scale-wise. Utterly bonkers. Maybe that's why I like Combiner Wars Stunticons/Menasor so much. It makes more sense.
