So... if I'm looking at the right cover, we're talking:
Whirl - Crazy Harry (maniac) Ratchet - Rowlf dressed as Dr Bob (wise-cracking medic) Cyclonus - Uncle Deadly (scary and misunderstood) Drift - First Mate Miss Piggy (self-preening ship's second-in-command prone to violent outbursts) Ultra Magnus - Sam the American Eagle (grumbling enforcer of wholesomeness) Chromedome - Dr Bunsen Honeydew (mad scientist - could have gone to Brainstorm, but then he has no sidekick) Red Alert - Fozzie dressed as Bear on Patrol (commited to his chosen career but bad at it, and goes to pieces under pressure or when eyes are upon him) Rung - Kermit (responsible one trying and failing to keep things together) Rodimus - Captain Link Hogthrob (completely useless but thinks he's great) Rewind - Beaker (Bunsen's unfortunate sidekick / guinea pig)
Not shown, we have:
Blaster - The News Reader (no explanation needed) Brainstorm - The Great Gonzo (not safe to be around) First Aid - Nurse Janice (again, self-explanatory) Fortress Maximus - Sweetums (big and scary) Perceptor - Dr Julius Strangepork (incomprehensible science officer) Pipes - Zoot (quiet blue one in the background) Siren - Animal (loud and shouty) Skids - Floyd Pepper (ultra cool) Swerve - Rizzo the Rat (smart mouth) Tailgate - Scooter (dogsbody) Trailbreaker - Dr Teeth (life and soul of the party)

Splendid selection Martin. I knew I could count on your expertise in Muppets to assist.

Swerve as Gonzo, Rewind is Robyn Brainstorm as... the Swedish Chef? Whirl as Animal See, I'd have Cyclonus as Sam the Eagle, and Magnus as one of the Pigs in Space; the hero one.

But at the same time: Now with added spikey bits. Bored of that now.

It does make him look like his wings are badly damaged around the roots..... That said, I'm sure that it'll be a good issue - MTME has been pretty solid so far, giving me no reason to doubt it will be a good comic.

Oh no, I have no worries on the writing front, I've not really been left wanting on that! I'm just not a fan of Alex's penchant for adding little flicks and spikes and wings where there were none before. I like clean bodywork!

Chuff me, I've just caught up with Issues 14-16 of MTME
That was a roller-coaster ride and a half. Absolutely well done with this James. You even managed to make me care about Drift (not something I ever thought I would do), quite unexpected stuff. Nice to see a little insight into Rodimus. While he has been prominent, we haven't had much seen from behind the curtain as far as he is concerned. I am still convinced that he is psychotic and there will be worse to come for him and the crew before he either gets past it, or is replaced as leader.

Issue 16 is amazing stuff. I'd go so far as to say that for me it may be the best issue of the series so far. I'm not ashamed to say that my reaction to this issue shows how much of a connection to some of these characters James has given me. Fantastically written, and marvellously observed stuff.

IDW, why did you have to place Ultra Magnus's Autobrand at the wrong angle. You know he gets angry about that.

Ah, OK. I retract my criticism.
Great issue in general, with some nice development of Chromedome and Rodimus. The artwork is quite simple in the first few pages, but improves noticeably over the issue. The thicker lines in the last few pages reinforce the sense of a ship crew in mourning.
I'll be interested to see how the last panel plays out.

Several real WHUH? Moments this issue.

Whuh? is an understatement, particularly the last page. There were so many plotlines and surprises in this issue I thought I had read a comic twice the normal size.

I am very much looking forward to reading how this all plays out. Some strong visuals to back up many of the in-story-whuhs and seen-in-background-whuhs.
Great stuff.

Quick enjoyed this issue - felt like there was an awful lot going on, something I always like in a comic. I did like the fact that we did get a fair amount of exposition, it is just that a lot of it doesn't make sense yet - but I don't feel hard done by, a lot of it doesn't make sense to anyone inside the frame of the comic yet either! Some great little gags - the "Blaster" amused me a great deal, "do not mock the briefcase". The only thing that actually made me go "eh" was a certain characters seemingly random appearance midway through the story which made me go "are you a ninja now or something?" for a moment. But I have confidence in this creative team that this will all add up to something in due course so it didn't particularly derail things for me.
Curious to see how this all plays out

Ah, yes. That did make me double take as well as it was (for now!) just thrown in. And the artist had put so many extra bits and bobs on him I had to think for a second or two *if* it was him. {Spoiler}And I loved the idea of the long lost Titans just being stacked up across the surface of the planet and decaying like last years used parts.

Yep, as Phil said.
It seems to have been delayed for some reason. Preview World originally had it on their shipping list for July 17th.

#19 is another dense, marvellous read.
Getaway!
Torn between really liking the idea around Ultra Magnus and wanting him to be a "real" character.
My traditional outlandish speculation: Tailgate will be the next Ultra Magnus. Someone has to wind up in that armour, and he's effectively been trained for the part!
