I seriously doubt the game, when its released, will look quite as good as that. Thats another PS3/XBox 360 game trailer that uses 'graphics representative of game play' in their adverts. This largely means that the graphics aren't quite up to the same calibre but they don't want you to know that until after you've brought the game. Anyway, Activision hasn't quite got a reputation for making games that have a lot of playability in them.

Looks like cross between Animated/Armada Prime toys. That Metroplex at end of trailer? or Omega.

It's a very nice trailer, which contained more entertainment in 30 seconds than the whole of the last TF film. I own no consoles so unlikely to play it, but could be promising.

I don't believe for one moment that this is in-game footage. It could be from a prerendered intro or cut-scene very easily, but I doubt the engine itself will look this good.
I will hold off from making any assumptions about the game until we learn something about it, but I quite like the design aesthetic. I did like the strong Animated influence on Prime's humanoid mode though. If we must had Prime with a pointy torso (and it appears that these days we must) then the somewhat exaggerated slope of the animated look is the way to go I feel.

I'm a bit skeptical about that toy. The toy in the picture looks like it was cut from another picture and placed on a new background. Why? Are they hiding something or is it some other toy that has been photoshopped just to get the raving fanboys to drool?

Looks a lot like War Within Prime with Animated bits added.
And there's one of those blue Guardians from the Sunbow show, so I guess this is G1.

The toy prototype does look good too - that was on a site & they didn't know what it was back then.

Thought that trailer looked quite spiffy.

Interview on the game. One key fact: So Hasbro intends to go for a single canon (why?) and this game is going to be the basis. Though, obviously, this isn't taking from all canons because the war's not over Mini-Cons or the All Spark, the Decepticons exist instead of RID Predacons, and Optimus Prime is there instead of being a post-war Space Bridge man. So they actually mean "all G1 canons and we might add some non-G1 stuff maybe". The actual game mechanics look pretty spiffy though!

WfC StarscreamGame Informer seem to be making a huge effort to promote the game. They've set up a War for Cybertron page that promises to be updated on a regular basis.

I may pick up the PC version if my set-up can run it. I like the designs and love the idea of a Cybertron-set game.

Still no hints as to what it will actually look like in play, just more pre-rendered cinematic stuff. My judgement remains reserved until we have a better idea of what it actually looks like in practice, and more importantly, how it actually plays.

Being someone who buys a game about once every 5 years, I don't care. The trailer is enough to hook me. Cut scenes like that will keep me happy nevermind having playable bits.

Very nice!
Hopefully, if this new range/game is a success, we might get a new television series based on these characters. The animation looks good enough for a kid's TV show to my old eyes.
Plus a series set on Cybertron would be much cheaper to animate than one set on Earth.

Virtually every single Playstaion and Xbox game that is advertised shows pre-rendered CGI stuff and not actual gameplay up to a point where its getting silly. All of the adverts promoting Wii games feature actual ingame footage whether the graphics are good or not but PS3 and Xbox 360 adverts always feature CGI - are they afraid that nobody will buy the game if they reveal that it isn't cinema realistic?

In general, the days of cgi scenes in games looking nothing like the gameplay portions are long gone. There won't be much difference between the cut scene graphics and the game itself. Specific to this game, it's right that these trailers don't really show what type of game it is.

Is it Prowl - looking at the screen caps for the trailer you see Bumblebee clear & a display that slightly blurrs out Ratchet & whoever the white guys is to the right of screen.
Only spotted Skywarp in the scene to the bottom where Megatron & Starscream [or that could be Thrust due to the colouring]

If the game looks decent and has cutscenes and voice acting of that quality throughout, then it will either have to be unutterably awful or have keyboard-snappingly frustrating control system to stop me from buying it. I know people are miffed at the lack of in-game footage but we're still in the 'teaser trailer and concept art' phase of promotion. I suspect we won't see full in-game footage until nearer the release date.

I'll only be interested if it's mostly exploring, character interaction (with lots of non-aligneds/civilians) and problem-solving, with fighting on odd occasions.
The only thing in the trailer that grabbed my interest was the transforming landscape.

If Bioware was making it you might be in with a shot. With Activision and a promise that it'll be like Gears of War with giant robots... don't count on it.
Have you ever played the Knights of the Old Republic games? They are brilliant and sound exactly like the sort of thing you described.

No... but as I'm not looking to spend more time than I am now on my PC, I'll give them a wide berth. Relieved to hear the TF game is unlikely to hook me in. Martin
