Everythign should be in the shops today? does that include the toysrus display? As far as I know it is only the preview toys that are supposed to be out today. The rest of the line isn't due until the end of the month. Some stores seem to be breaking the street dates on the line though. Karl

I grabbed a Fallen Dave Soundwave today from the Entertainer. He looks awesome. I'm not too wild on the Bumblebee though. Is Bumblebee pretty much the same as last time but with a new head/weapon? Let us know what Soundwave's like, when you get around to opening him!

Looks like it, from a cursory glance, though I've never owned the original toy so take that with a pinch of salt. Soundwave looks great, though the packaging features pics of alternate modes it does not say what they actually are! Which, considering they are weird looking and not obvious (ie, not a car or something) is somewhat essential! -Ralph

I had a shot of Nick's Soundwave. Nice robot mode, if rather small for a deluxe. The alternate modes remain a mystery. One appears to be a pizza cutter and the other is either a ninja throwing star or perhaps an ornamental door buzzer. Who can say.
Robot mode is very nice. I do not think it's worth the £13 asking price though. Maybe one for 3 for 2 or buy 1 get 1 half price.

I would have posted this a couple of weeks ago, but mislaid the magazine, sorry.
The May issue of trade mag, Toy News has some details of Hasbro's Revenge of the Fallen marketing campaign. The key part of the article reads as follows.
"The franchise is the key focus within Hasbro's boys toy range in 2009, with a full marketing campaign to reflect this. The onslaught started at the beginning of the year but the heavyweight media campaign kicks off on May 30th to celebrate the toy launch and continues through to Christmas Day. The media mix includes kids consumer print, PR, POS, collector/fan focused activity and TV... The TV campaign will focus on all key segments within the toy line... Special promotions are also planned including a tour of the Bumblebee Camaro seen in the film... Though the toys launch one month prior to the movie release, select retailers will pre-sell key items from May 1st. These are Optimus Prime (Leader), Bumblebee helmet, Bumblebee arm blaster along with a special Preview wave... Although retailers can pre-order, the items will not ship until the May 30th on-shelf date."

How I wish that part were true for Hasbro in Poland. Sadly, these wankers over here probably don't even KNOW that Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is even coming out this year... Pete

I'm just wishing for edible Transformers treats over here. That's all I want. That will make me perfectly happy.

I think the ROTF line is already edible. I mean, given that the alternate forms of the Transformers don't look like anything remotely recognizable - who knows? - maybe it's meant to be alien sausages? Edit: Ralph - specially for you it's... COOKING WITH STITCHES! Pete

Popped into TRU yesterday, and mine has the big ROTF display. Light up eyes and moving arms!! Wooo. Looks like they've used an out of date Megatron though! No Transformers undernearth yet, but the web site is showing a lot of new stuff ready to buy and no longer pre-order.

I am planning to visit Nick's TRU this weekend to see the feature wall of doom. I'm ridiculously excited about seeing all the tat in one place under big glowing eyes. Perhaps only a quarter of the 'proper' toys interest me, but damn it the tat looks great!

I am really up for that Toaster dude. Real Gear is back under the Scout Class banner. Let's see what the Autobots have to offer.
Speaking of Scout-class, I got me a Scalpel on the way!

Yes, I follow this videos. They are indeed a good 'buyers guide' for TF toys, plus sometimes his 2-year old helps him review them!

I filmed a review a month ago for Rollbar with the Uni broadcast quality cam. I just need to capture it and edit it down. I shot about 20 minutes worth of the main review and lots of cut-ins which I'll round down to 5-6 mins. It's milk themed too! I think these are better than the earlier reviews. I like the recent Mixmaster show and tell best so far. ===KEN

Must now be officially out in Japan as HLJ has emailed me a shipping notice for a couple of items I'd pre-ordered.

Same here, thanks for the original heads up on this.
£35 inc Shipping on my two deluxes is an great deal IMO.
I'll be a little more chuffed if these figures have the energon cubes like before.

As well as the combining gimmick, the individual bots look good too.
Certainly aiming to get these.

As usual pictures were not allowed at the panels under pain of mob-trampling, we got to see several new characters in Hasbro's slideshow:
Scout class Breakdown (sports car, like the Stunticon), Skystalker (black flying wing with intentional gerwalk mode), Scattorshot (armoured car with top-mounted guns, hints of the Cybertron basic), and possibly another one I can't presently recall.
Voyager class Jungle Attack Ironhide- same toy, new accessories including bumper/crossbow, knives and rifles that combine into a hefty cannon. Voyager class Bludgeon- a real-world looking tank whose barrel conceals a katana and who turns into a remarkable rendition of everybody's second favourite Pretender*. He has a short-sword for his off-hand and the designer made a point of stating that both weapons can hitch to his left hip. Looks a bit squat, but extremely cool. Olive tank but transformation reveals orange galore and what appears to be a robotic skull face.
Leader class Starscream- only a resin prototype shot of this and he's not out till 2010- looks like the animation model in robot mode and folds up into a surprisingly streamlined F-22- a side-view showed not much kibble to speak of underneath. He will have a voice chip but, to paraphrase the designers, they're not sure what they want him to say yet.
-Nick
*The first being Longtooth, naturally.
