Hang on: www.joeaday.com/major-altitude-1993/Was there not a Major Altitude that was in the DOTM Human Alliance line? Was there a TF/GI JOE proper official crossover toy completely unnoticed by the entire internet? -Ralph

Any plastic that has pretty marbling swirly color to it is suseptible to GPS. Calling the syndrom "Gold" is a misnomer. the TF wiki has a really great article about it.

Which is the worst gold plastic toy? I think it'll be the Pretender one but Armada first release Optimus Prime with the arm joints is one of the lastest ones. Have we had any since the Movies?

His weapon AND his left hand! I can just envisage some Joe fan picking this guy off the shelf, trying to pull the gold gun out of the gold fist and having them both shatter in his hands. Oh, Hasbro.

I just bought a MISB Thunderclash.
Annoying box was a bit damaged, and now I'm actually scared to open it & get the toy out.
Will it literally shatter on removal?

There's no way to know, I'm afraid. It depends on whether the gold and black pigments in the plastic have separated in the right places to form a large enough cleavage plane to make the plastic liable to break there.
Cleavage. Fnar.

I had a MISB one that shattered on second play with it. Conversely, I had a loose one for several years that was very robust!

I've had a few, all second hand and generally the gold plastic seems a lot more reliable than other toys. The main damage tends to be to the hinges on the chest/roof piece, and that I suspect is often down to mistransforming it. Aside from that and some rattling in the feet it doesnt seem that bad.

I found the inner robot myself in my dads flat the other day, transformed it once and the bit that keeps the hip swivel in place fell off

Got some BM-Dinobots out today to show my Nephew. Striker and Triceradon were amongst them seem to use metallic flecked plastic.
Upon checking on TFWiki, seems Striker does suffer, but he's relatively low risk. Can confirm, no casualties, although after 3s of play with Triceradon, my Nephew had popped a ball jointed leg off.
