Bah! Pyro's arse has just broken. The seller had him wrapped perfectly in bubble wrap and he STILL broke.

I had a fairly good Thunderclash cab that I was going to sell you-know-where, but when I took the box down from the attic to sort out the roof hinge had just disintegrated. Little flecks of gold all over the box. Don't get me started on Skyhammer's shell. We left a few fragments of what was left of it on that tablecloth when we were putting our stuff away after AA.

I would love for Thunderclash to be re-issued to have a cab. I gave mine away because it was less strong than a tissue.

No, I think they're safe. I'm pretty sure they're the softer plastic that you'd normally get in a Micromaster rather than the harder, brittleness-prone gold plastic.

They're definately safe. That plastic isn't gold, it is a sort of olive colour.
I have a very nice Blazemaster who is missing his rotor if you want it for free, I can drop it round at Swincon if you want.

I've never had any problems with my Air Patrol since I got 'em in 1990.

Previous page has details: For an example, watch any Black Zarak video on youtube. Most of them break when handled, even gently. -Ralph Haha really? Got any links? Search for thecollector75. He did a good vid. -Ralph

I haven't heard of this syndrome relating to other toys with gold plastic though...I.E. in Action Force/G.I.JOE Serpentor and his Air Chariot are gold and they usually don't deteriorate...must be a god awful Transformers illness alone then..

I read that. Interesting thing is, none of the 1986 Serpentors I've had have suffered from GPS. Especially the figures. Off the top of my head they had a subline called Iron Grenadiers and none of those vintage gold parts suffered either. I used to collect the vintage stuff before selling all the figures and have a fair amount of vehicles left that I should sell off too. Can't recall if I still have a second D.E.M.O.N vehicle in the attic or not but I won't be testing it for GPS but if I ever get round to listing it on ebay I'll make mention of it....
Incidentally, check out this brave souls demo of GPS on one Beast Wars Neo Randy:

As I said above I broke a Randy removing it from the package. half the body came off in my hand.

Rocklords Brimstone has gold parts and he is, pardon the pun, solid as a rock....It must be the plastics Takara/Hasbro use....

I bought a Beast Wars Neo Randy for 20p at a boot sale. Maybe the previous owner knew of GPS . The figure was fine and stayed together for the duration of my ownership as did my boxed figure I bought rather cheaply from Lawrence Evans at Transforce 2001. ===KEN

1988-2002, Killbison and Black Zarek are epic examples of the early disintergration.

Continued from New AquisitionsIn news that will probably excite no one except me, I can announce Toy Fu will also include a complete G2 Superion now with undamaged (so far) Slingshot. It's taken far longer than anticipated to get that last bit and I still have to put it together *shudder*. But G2 Superion is great. So its been worth it. Good grief. I'd advise not putting him together to be honest. Given Slingshot shears in half if you even breath on him, I'd hate to see how his head being forced into the socket affects him!

Oh god I hadn't even considered that, I meant I have to put Slingshot together. The first three all had the same wing broken off amongst other damage, the one that arrived today was just missing its tail section which I have a couple of but will have to face the stress or reattaching to the main body without doing damage. And crap I hadn't realised the head was gold too. Hmm, I have a plan brewing.
