The trains will only move according to the pecking order.

Southern Rail's latest strike has affected the train I was intending to get to go and see Last Knight this afternoon, making arrival the cinema much tighter than I'd like. Grrr.

I'm considering Southern as an option to return from Portsmouth this week on the grounds I've not done that route before! Have to see what's what when I get back to Portsmouth Weds/Thurs

Well this is going well. Train strike means getting to the cinema will be a pain, and I've just spent the last twenty minutes unsuccessfully trying to book tickets for the film because Vue's website is playing up. If I get to see this bloody film it'll be a miracle.

I've just been on the train 800-1330 £10 & I still can use my ticket until midnight. Wakefield Castleford, Leeds. I could nip to the comic shop in Dewbury

Uh! Train prices are ridiculous. Im going across to Birmingham a few days early to go (even further across)to Cardiff for the Dr Who Experience.
Its cheaper to hire a car, pay for fuel, insurance and probably parking than it is to buy train tickets there and back two and a half weeks in advance.

Yep, seems like a very sensible plan. I've seen far too many trains with folk crammed into aisles when the first class compartments stand empty.

Ah! thank you. I knew there was something else I had to do this morning. Pick up tickets for a train journey to London on Thursday. Going the long way round to Victoria to avoid the Waterloo madness.

Actually, given the position of both trains in relation to the track, that photo makes me ask several worrying questions.

In my area (the north) goods trains take priority over passenger trains. there are only 2 tracks & moving steel stock is more important. That's why Royal mail use road & nearly no one uses the trains anyway. Then all the money that was going to be spend on the Leeds Manchester network is going to be spend on London because they don't have any train down there (that's people views on the news from this morning). London has already got a good train network while outside the M25 ring road we have old stock trains that are falling apart

More train fun today! Union of South Africa is visiting Didcot. Gresley A4's are a favourite.
