I liked the young lady who was part of the duo representing Estonia.
The Georgian entrant was indeed eyecatching.

I know they've been stretching the 'Europe' aspect of this for a while, but Australia? err, what?
I'm not sure about the UK entry. Harking back to the twenties and thirties doesn't sound like it's sending the right vibe to me. Let's reference a time in history when England was doing quite alright thanks chaps, but a lot of Europe was really struggling? umm... not a way to get votes.

Unlike the rest of you I need to be up at silly o'clock so won't stay up form voting. Liked Lithuania, Serbia, Sweden & Greece. Russia to win by a country mile.

I know they've been stretching the 'Europe' aspect of this for a while, but Australia? err, what? They are members, but not core members, of the European Broadcasting Union whose contest it is. The membership criteria is being a nation which uses a particular television broadcasting technology. Members of the EBU who are within continental Europe automatically get invited to compete, but members from elsewhere in the world can be invited at the discretion of the organisation, and this year they chose to invite Australia. Might be someone else's turn next year. Karl

They did mention China at the end quite specifically. Something like "A big thanks for tuning in to all our viewers in China". Maaaaaaaybe?

Looks like Chinese State Television are members of the same status as Australia, so it isn't beyond the bounds of possibility.

A piss poor year, clogged up with samey ballads.
Not enough madness.

I think they've found a way to kill the madness with the knock-out rounds, alas.

There's been knockout rounds for years and madness still got through.
I just think not many countries wanted to win this year so they all went inspid ballad route.

Did anyone else see Eurovision just taking the mickey out of itself with an awesome song about how to write a Eurovision hit? That was absolutely brilliant.

Not sure this new tense and exciting voting is really working... It's faster, but Australia seem to be running away with it anyway even without the phone votes.
I also note for speed they've dropped repeating everything in French. this all being in English is actually making me strangely uncomfortable.
I haven't heard all the songs but I've not heard any good electronica, it's all pop, so I'd go Georgia because at least it's got a bit of welly. Cyprus perhaps.

All these glamorous people from around Europe presenting their country's votes and we put up Richard from Pointless. What message is this sending the world?
I want to go and live in one of these countries where people seem to be permanently happy.

I didn't realise that final vote was going to include such high numbers, okay, so they proved that idea worked well. Exciting stuff in Sweden!
