Less people watch TV as it airs. Overnight ratings are not all that useful. I'd wait a week for the adjusted figures to come in.

I was stuck in work on the night this aired so was quite glad to find I must have programmed the Virgin Magic Box to pick it up for me.
Watched it last night and quite enjoyed it. Some good ongoing gags and some one liners coupled with an ok story actually featuring some character development. Looking forward to the next episode!

I watched it on Dave's website as I don't have a telly. 3 mins of ads then the episode plays uninterrupted, which is fine but unfortunately the sound was badly out of synch with the picture no matter which browser I tried so I found it hard to get into. I'll wait for the shiny disc.

I dunno, it still feels like it's lacking something... Watching Series 4 White Hole immediately afterwards just made the new one feel a little overthought, like the jokes are put in based on what they think will make people laugh rather than the writers' natural comedic writing skills. It's difficult to explain!
But still the best episide there's been in over 3 series'.
Not sure why the spikey walls make the same noise as George Jetsons' car though.

The episode is growing on me, maybe I expected more from the preview and the episodes running joke wasn't as strong as the moose one or Listers father son talks, though I suppose the Chinese whispers was the real background joke last week and the Shakespeare joke was at least as funny as that .
I guess anyone still offended by Life of Brian might not be amused, but nothing came across as attacking religion that I noticed.

I did enjoy the pork chop joke, well handled build up and great pay off. As to the rest I felt it was a pretty poor episode this week. I think it was the extra character that spoilt it as he just stuck out like a sore thumb and never really 'fitted' in even taking into account he was meant to be an anomaly.
As a religious person I wasn't offended but did spend a lot of time rolling my eyes in boredom at all the little digs against Christianity. I couldn't imagine the Beeb bothering to do the same thing with Muhammed, Moses or Buddha. Felt a little too much like the writers were forcing in their own personal axe grinding to work well as a part of the story.

I have no problem with people taking potshots at the bad things done supposedly in the name of - but contrary to what should be the main point of - Christianity. (And, indeed, Islam, etc.) Martin |
