I think it'd be more like the X-Men. There'd just be a lot of arguing.

We saw future Ralph in one of the Birmingham Informal Gatherings in the pub.
A strange, elderly man...

With a large entourage of telepathically controlled beautiful young ladies, and the completed Infinity Gauntlet? With a massive beard and unfashionable glasses, a lot of denim as well. Homeless Time Traveller was the look he was sporting.

Netflix. Curse you. I just finished DS9, then finally saw the end of White Collar. Started rewatching Community and now I find myself 3 series into Red Dwarf. Oh god. 6 series of Red Dwarf and I've been enjoying myself. I just got to series 7 I'm only about 5 seconds in and the cg is painful. Series 6 was far better than I remembered it. In my mind its always been the new series that wasnt quite as good as the previous ones. That 2 year gap was an eternity splitting it from what had come before. But that gap now seems like nothing and the epsiodes and tweaked format are good fun. (What would I have thought if told that after 6 I'd be waiting nearly 5 years for series 7 and that they'd only get 4 more series broadcast in the next 23 years.)

I mostly like series 7. Traditionally I have preferred it to 6. I like the lack of laugh track and I didn't have problem with Kochanski. But the CG, thats going to take some getting use to.

There are an awful lot of objectively wrong opinions about Red Dwarf today.
Series 1-2 were OKAY but not that good
Series 3-6 were the golden years, increasing in quality until season 6 which was the best.
Series 7 was awful
Series 8 was slightly better but only okay.
Back to Earth made me want to die
Series 10 was fun if disposable.

Polymorph is the precise moment the show went really wrong and the writers realised they could do lots of cool things with effects and went away from the basic premise which is two blokes who don't like each other are trapped with each.
S1 & 2 are complete gold. I'd have been happy if it had ended on "I'm going to be an uncle!"

Ah Netflix has the extended series 7, the non extended version had the track still didn't it?
thankfully they don't have the remastered earlier series with the horrific CG shots.
The thing I have noticed about the series is how much Lister changes in to a charicature. In the first 2 and somewhat the third series Listers a slob, but hes not the curry addict he became, he actually has a wide range of culinery tastes. Maybe the addiction is something that developes over the series, but mostly feels like one of the shows revisions that I don't really like.
On the other hand I like how the characters evolve and do develope skills as the show progresses.

Am I the only one who was there at the start?
I saw the first episode the night it aired on my first 14 inch tv which I'd bought 2 days previous.

I was. I watched it seething with hatred that the BBC had deemed it suitable to replace Star Cops with a sci-fi comedy. A COMEDY! I hated it because of that. It was rubbish. Sci-fi was NOT a genre suitable for sitcoms, BBC, what were you thinking? Give me back my Star Cops B-B-C.
Yeah. That didn't last long.

It didn't so much kill it, it took its broadcast slot. Both were on at 9pm on Mondays, Star Cops in the summer of 1987 and Red Dwarf the following spring. So when mags like Starburst were telling us Star Cops wasn't coming back, Red Dwarf popped up in its place.
I remember quite frankly telling my Dad that the BBC didn't know what they were doing. Which is so funny thinking about it because I must have been a devout Hitch-hikers fan by then. Such was my love for Star Cops.
