I've been busy with work so haven't had a chance to see Skyfall yet, though I might get a chance this week.
I did however buy the Bond 50 boxset that was recently released. I find it a bit weird having the reboot films in the same set as the original series, but it saves money and space buying it this way. The films are divided into two books, that fit inside a slipcase. The second includes a space for Skyfall, though I find the "Skyfall (COMING 2013)" printed on the back a little annoying - this is already mentioned on the disposable outer packaging.
The Quantum of Solace disc is a weird one as it irritatingly features trailers for other films before you get to the main menu and then the menu itself uses a different design to the other 21 films. Odd.
I believe the extras across the set are the same as from the second DVD release (which I never owned) and from a quick look (aside from some trailers) they are still in SD. There's also a disc of new extras but so far I've just watched the films. There's definitely some I like a lot more than others but I (just about) liked them all to varying degrees, apart from Die Another Day.

2 films in with Daniel Craig and I still cannot accept him as a Bond actor. Despite this, I may have to go along and watch Skyfall with George anyway as she wants to see it. If its worth her coming with me to watch Nativity! 2 in return I will do it . I may even like this third Craig/Bond offering. I've heard nothing but praise for it.

While I enjoyed Skyfall, I am rather mystified at the 'best film ever' hype that surrounds it. Decent film and all, but Bond is actually better with invisible cars and lasers from space, etc.

Indeed, Skyfall is competent, enjoyable and a decent return to form after its predecessor I still want to see them push the Superagent side of Bond a little bit more. I'm not saying I'd want to loose the slightly gritty thing they have going, but there is room to expand their sights a little and head in a mid-Connery/Early-Brosnan kind of direction.
I think they are still a little too concerned about maintaining plausibility and "real world" relevance. I think there is a mid ground that you can occupy with a credible Bond and a somewhat more over-the-top villian. Daniel Craig needs an Auric Goldfinger or an Alec Trevelayan to stretch the boundaries of the Bond world a little bit.

Plausibility and real world leads to Licence to Kill and nobody wants to go there again!

Indeed. Dalton is the best casting there has ever been for Bond, but unfortunately he was cast at exactly the wrong time in the Bond series.

It's terrible. Only Dalton gets me through it. The Living Daylights is tops though.

I've always maintained that Dalton was the best casting pick for Bond.

I have a great deal of time for Dalton as Bond. It is just a shame that he drew some terrible scripts. I really wish he had been given better films, because I think that he would have been absolutely marvelous - as it is he is far and away the best thing in both of his films.

I've always liked both the Dalton films and on my most recent viewing of the series, LTK was actually one of the ones I enjoyed the most. Admittedly they do feel a bit out of place with the rest of the series.

Dalton was indeed an outstaning bond, and should have had more films. I to love LTK!

Thanks to Sky having all the Bond films showing in October, i watched every Bond film other than the Brosnan ones, as know I had seen them. I have probably at least seen bits and pieces of every Bond when I was younger but apart from The Living Daylights which we had on VHS, I didn't remember many specific stories.
I also finally got around to watched Casino Royal and Quantum of Solace, which after viewing both I was still unsure about Daniel Craig as Bond, but hat could be due to Pierce Brosnan being my favourite Bond.
I went to the cinema with a friend on Sunday as he had free tickets, so we saw Skyfall which though a cracking film it did not seem like a James Bond film. It felt more like a random MI6/spy film with James Bond inserted in as the main character. Bond needs gadgets dammit.
In my opinion one of the most tragic things ever about the Bond series is that Adam West turned down the role. Think about that people and try not to have your brain explode at the thought of the awesomeness that could have been. TV's Batman turned down the role of James Bond as he thought it should have went to a Brit only for it to go to George Lazenby.

True, but I would rather live in the universe where Patrick McGoohan accepted the role.

I like Quantum of Solace! A direct sequal was an interesting way to go. I think it worked well, but I don't think they should do it again.
I loved the bit in the auditorium, when Bond is in listening on the baddie organisation. Spooky! I'd have loved for that organisation to have been Spectre!
I've missed the odd gadget here and there. But at the end of Skyfall it did seem like they may be moving back more in that direction. I think a ballance can be reached between grit and gadgets.

The editing in Question of Sport was so choppy that there were whole scenes where I literally had no clue what was happening.

The editing in Question of Sport was so choppy that there were whole scenes where I literally had no clue what was happening. Prime offender, the opening car chase - I like a good chase sequence as much as the next man, but I do like to have some idea of where people are in the chase, who is chasing whom and who is gaining or pulling away at any given time. Otherwise it is just random pictures of cars and drivers. That sequence lost QoS quite a few points with me, and the situation did not really improve. Karl

Why... why would they do that...? Reminds me of when Bay's first Transformers movie was coming out in 2007 and the guy opposite at work knowing that I'd put myself into a media blackout (including not watching the trailer) started giving me false spoilers like... { False Spoiler}Optimus Prime dies at the end

They thought I'd seen it.
At the cinema? No, not been for years, can't sit comfortably for that long anymore.
On DVD ? No, I bought it on BD, which you're unwrapping
Apparently I'm at fault for having a strop about being told!
