That reminds me we need to do Bond location next time everyone comes to Swindon.

I've just had the end of Skyfall spoilt for me by my sister in law as Liz was unwrapping the BD to put it on! They thought I'd seen it. At the cinema? No, not been for years, can't sit comfortably for that long anymore. On DVD ? No, I bought it on BD, which you're unwrapping Apparently I'm at fault for having a strop about being told! Finally seen Skyfall. Thought I'd better as the Spectre DVD is in the post. Almost utterly soulless and without redemption. Got very wound up about the tube stocks in the District Line scenes too.

Interesting. I liked Skyfall but will admit that it does go some way outside the bounds of what's usual for a Bond film.

I have to ask: what's up with the Tube stocks?

Explained here london-underground.blogspot.co.uk/2012/12/bond-on-tube-skyfall-tubefall.htmlThe gist is it's 96 Tube stock which never served the District line (I couldn't place what it was but knew it wasn't right) At the time of filming it would still have been C & D stock, probably D given that it was on the section of District on the south of the Circle (the smaller C were necessary for the road up to Edgeware where the D didn't fit). There's a very similar cock up in the last series of Sherlock. Nowadays they're nearly all S stock, similar to the Overground space train but longer. Another problem is the train terminating at Westminster: Westminster isn't a terminating station onthe District in normal service. Then there's the tunnels, and it's the same mistake as Web of Fear: small round tunnels snuggly hugging the train. The tunnels on the south side of the district are wide open ones with both lines in them thanks to the cut & cover method of construction. As such the stations there look VERY different to those elsewhere. Next time you're in the smoke I'll demonstrate these points and we'll visit Monument, shown incorrectly in Web 3. The filming for the station sequences was on the now disused Charring Cross Jubilee platforms which I used when travelling to Lords for cricket matches prior to 2000.

Also the bus behind M's car on Vauxhall bridge looks a little elderly for a central London route!
Buses, trains and tubes are seemingly hard to get right for film makers though!

There's a film coming out this week called 'London Has Fallen' which I suspect will be continuity nitpicking fodder for London buffs.

I will do. Over the last fortnight I've re-watched the previous four Craig films to get the continuity refreshed in my mind, and I was intending to nip down to town today to find No Time To Die for a release day viewing but haven't had the chance yet. Still managed to avoid all spoilers.

No Time To Die Blu-ray procured from Tesco (£2 off with a clubcard too!).
I shall be watching in the next couple of days. Soon as all this relative visiting nonsense stops.

Watched last night. That is a... Long film. Lots of pluses and minuses but glad I rewatched the first four first.

Watched last night. That is a... Long film. Lots of pluses and minuses but glad I rewatched the first four first. For me the pluses are concentrated between 45 minutes in and 57 minutes in, during which 12 minutes it feels like an actual James Bond film. Paloma needs her own spin-off movie, I think. Martin

Yes indeed. Her character was played really well.

And it seemed to be the only bit of the film where James Bond got to forget his human problems and be himself again.
