This is not a quibble, but a minor discovery. But since we lost the thread to discuss such things when Phil decided there was a whole forum we no longer needed (;D), I'll put it here. I discovered we now have a multiquote feature, when you click on the little icon with the picture of the gear on it. It was an accident and almost certainly Proboards fault! Andu and I have both read the security log and it supports the story I gave! There was no malicious intent on my part and TBH of all the forums we could have had an accident with that was probably the easiest to cope with loosing. I'm sorry Phil! I didn't mean that to be mean, I was just playing with you. I know it's not really your fault.

I lost some of my old youtube vids and have no plans to put the ones I saved back online. It would feel a bit off to excise the Cullen bit on its own out of context and stick it up, I feel. In context of a convention compilation vid it was fun but on its own it would look like I was mocking the time a chap got drunk 3 years ago.

Speaking of youtube, is there any way to give us the ability in our own preferences to disable youtube embeds?

Not at the minute, I've left the auto-embed youtube links off at the moment, but that's all I can do until there is a plug in/bit of code hackery that is V5 compliant.

Mobile version is pretty awful, but you can switch to desktop mode which is an improvement.

It seems to be notifying me now when people quote or reply to me. I have no idea how this 'feature' started. How do I turn it off?

I'll be on the forum less for the forseeable future. This version of Proboards is infuriating. Pages take longer to load, sometimes it has trouble letting me open up specific pages in a thread and the page jumps around when I am trying to type replies. Generally, everything is slower to respond and it's a frustrating user experience and I'm getting increasingly angry instead of relaxed when using the forum. I also can't do a mod pass over posts as quickly as before as it is so much slower. I used to be able to do a full board check in 10 mins. Now it takes around half an hour. Even trying to type this has seen the fucking page jump about!
Even trying to access pages on the mobile version is annoying. Have to tap each page twice before it will open.
Don't worry. I'm not quitting, but I will be spending less daily time here until either Version 5 works better or version 6 comes on. The problems may be more noticeable to me as I generally read every post as a mod.
So I'm standing down as a mod. Got better things to do with my time than get angry and frustrated trying to use shit forum software.

Man down! Man down!
Is the pages bouncing around when your on a mobile device by any chance?
It does that on my phone if I scroll down while the page is loading, it did on the old version too but usually just the once as the page finished now it does it multiple times.

Jumps around for me to. This is a madening version of proboards. A step backwards. Although I do like how poll results look. Only thing I like about it!

Aside from having to get used to the new layout I haven't had any issues (though I have just noticed the page jumping as I started typing this, but even that was more of a flicker) the new features seem good, the mobile site is not good but I never used the old version so don't know if it's worse or not.
I hope for everyone who is having problems it is just minor bugs that Proboards can solve soon.

I generally read every post as a mod. I never have... I have only ever read threads that interest me. It looks like I'm officially moderator for the 'Have Your Say' forum and I suppose I do read everything posted there, though I can't say I've ever tried to moderate what anyone says. Not using powers anyway. Martin

I'm afraid that I'm with Ralph on this one. This new version is frustrating on any device I use but especially so on my tablet which is my primary access when at home.
What has broken the back for me is once a page has finally loaded (and stops reloading) I scrawl down and am greeted by large chunks of white space behind which the page content clearly already has loaded as the content is visible either side of these large voids. Proboards have lost me as a user.

It is frustrating compared to the previous version - it loads and scrolls very slowly, even on my work laptop which is as up-to-date a Macbook Pro as you can get.
The mobile experience is poorer as well - the mobile version is awful from a UX perspective, one of the best features of a board is being able to see what's been updated and how long ago and it just isn't there. Browsing the main site on my iPhone doesn't work as well as the old one - in particular the pinch zoom stutters and sometimes doesn't work - I have a feeling the pages have been overloaded with (bad) JavaScript and not to much good cause at that.
As a software engineer there really doesn't seem anything much "pro" about the way these boards are built at all. Version 4 at least did the job.

On the old version, I used to skip most of the threads, and it took me around 30 minutes if the threads I monitored were very active (My connection's fault, not the board's). But now it routinely takes 30 minutes or longer just to check out three or four threads, period. Today, I couldn't even access the site at all.
The other Proboard I visit (Dinotopia's official messageboard) hasn't upgraded yet, and I went there and made a report on the issues v.5 has given this board, and begged them not to upgrade.

I will say though, I don't appear to be suffering the same issues you guys are having. Functionality issues not withstanding, the only issue I have had is the occasional instance of being logged out for some reason.

On our PC it's fine. And we don't have a very advanced computer at all. Mobile version I'm slowly getting used to, but it does jump and do strang things like that. But then my phone isn't very advanced either!

Our options are to grin and bear it, or to look elsewhere for a different forum option.
That being said, having had a look elsewhere, it does seem to be that all the free options are reeking of bells and whistles of the unnecessary variety.
I might have an alternative, but will need to test it out first.

I find the desktop version is so-so, mobile version is pretty awful, almost like it was designed for older mobiles with limited browsers and could only scroll down not side ways (ie - viewing in landscape).
If anything is slow to load its unlikely to be your computer, either proboards is suffering high bandwidth or a poor connection to your ISP, there aint much code being used in loading this forum.
