To skip to international politics for a bit, I have been very impressed with New Zealand's Prime Minister. I was barely aware of her a week ago but great to see strong political leadership after a tragedy. Very impressive.

To drag us back to the shitshow of Brexit for a second. petition.parliament.uk/petitions/241584"Revoke Article 50 and remain in the EU. The government repeatedly claims exiting the EU is 'the will of the people'. We need to put a stop to this claim by proving the strength of public support now, for remaining in the EU. A People's Vote may not happen - so vote now."

Also you can email your MP to get him to consider voting to revoke Article 50. This website makes it a doddle. www.justmakeitstop.co.uk/

This House notes it has just cracked 1 000 000 entries.
Andrea Leadsom 'helpfully' notes that achieving this in 24 hours is nothing on the scale of the months/years of campaigning leading up to the officially referendum three years ago. Sigh.

Can anyone find me a link to the related story that referendum can't be overturned because it was advisory?
And, once again, to the EU finance laws due to come in? M found me them on Twitter and can I find the tweets?

Just imagine if the iron will May has on 'her deal' was applied to education, health, the economy, etc.

Yep and the Tories are still banging on as if they think it will happen. Which it can't. The EU know this and have basically given us an extra two weeks to do something else.

I expect it will be utterly ignored by whoever is PM at the end of the week. But it (and yesterday's protest) may enable the MPs who see a second ref as a way forward to vote for it in the 'indicative votes' exercise, when they would otherwise have had less defence to offer to those who claim a second ref would be disrespectful to the will of the people. And the response to the petition is in:
"It remains the Government’s firm policy not to revoke Article 50. We will honour the outcome of the 2016 referendum and work to deliver an exit which benefits everyone, whether they voted to Leave or to Remain.
Revoking Article 50, and thereby remaining in the European Union, would undermine both our democracy and the trust that millions of voters have placed in Government.
The Government acknowledges the considerable number of people who have signed this petition. However, close to three quarters of the electorate took part in the 2016 referendum, trusting that the result would be respected. This Government wrote to every household prior to the referendum, promising that the outcome of the referendum would be implemented. 17.4 million people then voted to leave the European Union, providing the biggest democratic mandate for any course of action ever directed at UK Government.
British people cast their votes once again in the 2017 General Election where over 80% of those who voted, voted for parties, including the Opposition, who committed in their manifestos to upholding the result of the referendum.
This Government stands by this commitment.
Revoking Article 50 would break the promises made by Government to the British people, disrespect the clear instruction from a democratic vote, and in turn, reduce confidence in our democracy. As the Prime Minister has said, failing to deliver Brexit would cause “potentially irreparable damage to public trust”, and it is imperative that people can trust their Government to respect their votes and deliver the best outcome for them.
Department for Exiting the European Union."

When I was a kid I wanted to be the usual jobs depending on age- digger driver, pilot, lawyer, architect etc.
But I wish somebody advised me that I could be a Speaker in the house of Commons. That job looks like it could be great fun, and easy.
