Loved Dark Eyes 1. 2 was a big step down but still good. 3 was a turd. 4 I had no idea what was going on.
I shall wait for a future sale for Doom Coalition.

I'd agree with your Dark Eyes feelings. What I've heard of Doom Coalition was a LOT better though did slip into mistaking lots of 'epic stuff happening which is confusing' for drama.

I'm part way through Doom Coalition 2.
Burns is spot on with his assessment of Dark Eyes.

Curious to hear how it is! I liked some of DC1, especially the new companion, but it ended on a very Dark Eyes 3/4 muddled note. And I don't much care for River Song, either, so I didn't bother at the time.

Speaking of River Song, I did hear her first series. It was ok but felt more like a one-off special as it forget to set up the premise for the ongoing series so I haven't bothered with the rest of it.
I have THE TIME WAR 1 ready for when I get some OU course work put to bed.

Do I want to get The Time War? I dunno. Ten years ago I'd have jumped instantly, but all the recent Big Finish 'epic' stuff (ie 8th and War Doc) boxsets just blur into one for me. Looking at the writers it's Dorney and Fitton - not to bash anyone but BF desperately need new talent. (I mean, if it was like, 80s Grant Morrison writing TIME WAR then sold!) What's reviews like, is this Dark Eyes vol 5?

I kind of want to get The Time War because it was the Night of the Doctor which got me to finally get into Big Finish in the first place. But the form shown by those writers puts me off.
Yesterday I listened to to Trail of the White Worm and The Oseidon Adventure, which were quite fun. I've enjoyed how Leela has been written in her Big Finish outings, and Anthony Beevor has such a great voice for audio drama.

The Time War begins...NOW! *lurches towards 'Play' button* Nnngh!!! IT BEGINS! -Ralph It's ok but it's not really grabbing my attention. It's also clearly one long episode split into four parts rather than four linked stories. -Ralph

Not really. It's just that not a lot happens slowly though there is a lot of people pointedly saying "TIME WAR!" over and over but nowt about why it started, when it started, what's it all about etc and the Gallifrey conscripts act exactly like the soliders in Full Metal Jacket. It's all very uninspired. For a series called THE TIME WAR 1 I thought this might have shown how it started but...no.
There is some lip service to it being a War in Time but not much.
And it is just one episode split into four chapters. A very thin storyline. It feels like a premise is being stretched out to make a series rather than the initial idea to make just one box set.
Is The War Doctor series any good?

Is The War Doctor series any good? War Doctor series is ok It's more seperate stories. Some are good some are ok, some are a bit Dark Eyes. Doesn't feel particularly Time Warsy.

Only listened to the first set but I really enjoyed it.
Wish we could have gotten more from John Hurt in the role.

Doom Coalition 3 - halfway through now.
Think the loose arc plots need to go away. The first one - Absent Friends was nice enough in it's own right, and I would have looked more kindly on it if it wasn't sandwiched into an ongoing narrative. It doesn't have enough of a tie in to feel like part of the overall story, but judged on it's own it was a nice little one-off tale.

Ep 4 of THE TIME WAR 1 was the strongest of the four but overall a very underwhelming box set and the type of resolution that makes me want to jump on a chair and scream.

I had to give up with the notion of keeping up with Big Finish's output a long time ago. Being an all or nothing person I decided I'd focus on several sublines and keep to those, but the advent of regular sales means I haven't even done that. I just wait now to pounce when the right lines come round, and I've been waiting on Tom's third season dropping cheap for aaages.

Sounds like my money might be better invested in the current 4th doctor sale, then!
Listened to The Elite today while doing various household tasks, excellent stuff.

I wasn't aware of the twist at all, but I guessed it fairly early; it happening so soon and then being taken off the table about halfway through surprised me though!
Liked the Florana reference at the beginning. Was a little disappointed that Nyssa didn't get to do very much. Rather liked the "teacher"...
Definitely one of the better 5th Doctor audio plays I've heard so far. The behind the scenes doc was genuinely interesting, too.

D: I avoided BF purchasing for a few years other than the odd item and here as I had so much unlistened to material as I found it hard to concentrate on audio plays for a long time due to stress. But now the backlog is clear, I am falling down the BF rabbit hole again... -Ralph

Doom Coalition 3 Overall - decent but not fantastic. {Spoiler}The Eleven is actually not all that interesting a gimmick.
Also, we meet an old friend of the Doctor's from the Academy who he thinks is a good egg. Yes, of course he is bad un. Good performances and River Song and the Eighth work well together, even if he doesn't know who she is.
Ends on a bit of a cliffhanger.
