The second Eccleston set is a lot better IMO. It's less Briggs-ian junk and more 'lets just have really fun adventures with the Ninth Doctor.'

I listened to Hinchcliffe vol 3, The Helm of Awe, yesterday while working in the garden. Good one, that. It has the folk horror of The Daemons mixed with the alienness of Terror of the Zygons. Works really well.

I thought Helm of Awe was a bit eeeh but really liked the Genesis Thingy (or whatever it was called)

Succumbed to the Lord Tom BF sale and ticked a few more needs off the list.

On a McGann binge and so have procured Time War 2-4 and Stranded 1-3. I look forward to having time to listen to them!
For some reason, I must have McGann box sets in physical form. Not his single story releases. Just the box sets. I have no idea why.

I'd like to say if this is free (aside from the cost of the licence fee, that is) to listen to then I'll try to give this a go. But I say that about many podcasts and never manage it...

Quite enjoyed Time War 2. Much better than the first set. Doctor Ogron must return!

Redacted ep 1: shite.
Redacted ep 2: pretty shit until the back half when the plot finally turned up and the cliffhanger was good. Now showing some promise.
I suspect Doctor Who won't turn up until episode 10 though.

Redacted ep 3: meh. Doctor Who still absent. Plot stalls. Filler.
This is essentially a series with fanfic characters rather than a Doctor Who adventure. There's a good idea in here though.

Redacted ep 4. Still no sign of The Doctor.
I think it's been mistitled. This isn't Doctor Who. It's a spin-off from Doctor Who, like Class or Torchwood.

I wanted to support it as it is the first new free-to-air DW audio drama that the BBC has done for many many years.
But it's shite.
It has one more episode to grab me or I am done.

That's not really going to hurt me though.
You are talking to a man who has owned Black Orchid in multiple formats.

Time War 3: outstanding!

I just listened to the first story on the new Sixth Doctor set- Water Worlds. Really fun and I like the character of Hebe.

Listened to Mind of the Hodiak this evening while mowing the lawn and tidying up the garden. It's not the worst missing story by a long way, but it isn't particularly good. DWM's review is pretty accurate; it's just uneven. The first part is very fragmented and the Doctor doesn't really become involved properly until the cliffhanger, then the second part, which is written from RTD's outline as opposed to an actual script, tightens up considerably.
As an exploration into RTD's early writing it's interesting - as Colin Baker says in the extras, if you didn't know who wrote this, RTD would be your first guess, but it's an interesting document in the RTD story, not a great Doctor Who story in its own right.
It's weird, this would never have been made with Colin Baker back in the day, but you could see it being a late Sylvester story.

As the lyrics indicate, it is a promo. The song is, however, included as a download with the relase.
