It's already on the list, guys.
Coupla family days out coming up, hoping wife and sprogs let me play some. Played them Foot. Mrs Shocks- no. Big- no (she loves things you wouldn't expect, like Toto, but not PF). Small- maybe... some of them, "some are too long, Daddy".
Get OUT of my car, ALL OF YOU!!!!

This is a bit outside of the thread's remit, but does anyone else get a Floyd vibe from this?

So. Big pill sent me A TON of stuff, all of which is amazeballs.
Division Bell, Momentary Lapse, and The Wall for Father's Day tomorrow! Listened to Endless River on my commute yesterday. Bit out of sink, I suppose, but it's was all very soothing.
Fearless from Meddle continues to be a favourite. As does all of Dark Side.

What are Gilmour's solo albums like?

On an Island is top, Rattle that Lock is almost as good and its been so long since I listened to the first two that I can't remember. They aren't quite like Floyd, but the guitar is unmistakable.

Coolio, thanks chum. I shall move onto a bit of Gilmour action in due course. Did Waters do much solo work? Read something about KOAS? Any good? His lyrics really are mind-blowing.

There were only Pink Floyd songs. Edit: although actually there were several files that just came through as code, you know, when I opened them on the PC.

PF update.
I like Division Bell and Momentary Lapse of Reason very much, but find I miss Waters' lyrics. I wasn't blown away by The Wall, surprisingly. Some of it is great, but, I dunno, it's almost as though Waters went too concept. Maybe it should have been a more condensed single album...? I'll give it more listens though and I'm sure it'll grow on me. The Final Cut is heavy going, but interesting. Wish You Were Here is utterly brilliant. I think I like Dark Side the best still, but WYWH is really superb. Meddle remains a firm favourite. And the version of Echoes Phil sent me was AMAZING. Is that just on DVD? I'd love it on CD. Also listened to Endless River, which, although being mainly instrumental, is very nice. Animals is on the way. Pulse is a target.
I listened to Piper, and although very listenable, I didn't enjoy it was much as the others. Sorry to say. Guess I'm a later Floydia?

Be a lovely set to own, but no way at £430! That's taking the piss really. Have to hope they do the individual releases like last time, but even they were expensive.

Mumble groan winger they didn't release Echoes live 1974 separately did they?

The pricing on those things is well wonky. I didn't realise when volumes 1-6 of the 67/72 set were released individually they were the same as the boxed set ones. That means 6x£30 gets you all bar the last volume of a whole set that was well over £300 when it came out. That places huge value on volume 7, which is really just a collection of oddments looking at the track list on Wikipedia.
Yes, if they release the volumes from this new set individually I can see me upgrading my existing CDs for the albums. But 87 onward, there are, what, 3 studio albums and 2 live, and Endless River was really a bonus disc for the Division Bell. They're going to have to use a lot of other material to fill out another set like the last one. 33 discs.

Really intrigued to see what's in it. Absolutely not buying it in that form.
Although this has reminded me of the £30 individual volumes from the previous big box. The poncy titles don't help working out which albums they represent though.

Times like this I'm glad I'm not as obsessive with the Floyd as I am with some other bands.

I have been reappraising Meddle this morning based on an assist from Phil and Shockprowl's recent championing it. This is good squishy. Speakers up, curtains pulled back and windows open with sunlight streaming in*. This is probably what a good day is.
*all toys hidden first of course. You will not touch my Jetfire you... sunshine you!

Meddle is my second favourite. After Darkside. Fearless is an awesome song. And Echoes is quintessential.

Ooh yes. That's a worthwhile purchase. I'd forgotten about that big late years set. Did that never come out on individual releases like the Early Years one did?
