Taking time to sit back and absorb the expanded DSOT. The edges feel rounded out now, the jumps gone where edits were before. Love this, just love it. It's impossible to explain how Floyd's music just lifts you to another level. Definitely one of *the* live albums. Not watched the BR yet but almost every track on the CDs gives me goosebumps.

I realised that four of the five CDs in the Later Years set are on Amazon Music, so I had a listen to the remixed version of Momentary Lapse of Reason today. Given Wright and Mason have done new tracks for it you could say it is more pure Floyd than the original, but at the same time because it's noticeably different sounding it's less pure too.
I don't think it can replace the original as a superior version, it has to exist alongside as an alternative.

Nice an all, but seems a bit weird. Why just do the audio? The video on a second disc would make it a nicer package.

OOOOOOOOOO A version of the studio shine on with all the twiddly bits at the start high enough in the mix! YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54W8kktFE_oTHIS sounds like it did when I first heard it YEARS ago. The CD version I have, and the MP3 downloads, have all had the little tinkly bits too low in the mix.

One of those to watch the listings for - there are different listings for DVD & BR versions. That link is for the BR.
I listened to this online when it came out. It's weird. I know it's supposed to be more 'Floyd' but because it doesn't sound like the original it doesn't sound right.

Quite liked Signs of Life. Oh dear they've p!$$ed around with Learning to Fly a bit too much and I don't like it.
That's the problem with new versions of old favourites you've listened to hundreds of times

I refer the Honorable Gentleman to my comment of 26th Jan above. I quite agree.

If only they could re-engineer Pink Floyd to make them sound good.

If only they could re-engineer Ralph to give him a decent taste in music.

Come on. If there was a Doctor Who release in a TARDIS shaped Blu-ray box with a flashing light on the top, you would be jolly excited.
Actually, why hasn't that happened?

Nope. I detest over-elaborate packaging for media. I just want a box or case I can quickly open to get a disc/vinyl/tape.

That's true to be fair. Uniformity in packaging and spines is of utmost importance.

I would tend to agree. The Series 1 TARDIS DVD box fits nowhere and is falling apart over time, meaning it's no good as a DVD case at all. For me, the furthest you should ever take "special" DVD/BluRay/4K/8K/whatever packaging is the original Lord of the Rings DVDs, which were nicely decorated and opened up like books, but which still fit on the shelves along with all your other DVDs.
