Phil is a Bad Man.
I am now thankful there was not a repaint of POTP Beachcomber. A one-use mould!

Ah, Power of the Primes. The line that promised so much but ultimately delivered so little. Sure, there were some fun toys in there, but by this point (to me, anyway) all of the deluxe Combiner molds were starting to feel tired, with the figures on their own lacking the fun and playability of the Titans Return deluxes - the Dinobots were a particular disappointment in that regard, sacrificing poseability in their alt-modes in exchange for their ability to combine. And the less said about the incomplete line-up of Pretenders and the "Prime Masters" that basically did nothing the better... But that's not what this thread is about. And there were some good toys in there. The concept of the "evolving" Leader class figures was a great one, even if it wasn't necessarily executed well in all cases - Rodimus in particular is a great idea, but lacking somewhat in hand. This is actually a concept I'd have liked to have seen expanded, with some Decepticons in the mix, too - Megatron into Galvatron, for example. So yes, there were some good figures. And here are my five favourites: - 5. Battleslash/Roadtrap - Cheating a little and counting these as one, because it kind of is. But it's a great little gimmick that I wish they'd kept for Flywheels, because the individual robot modes are also pretty good too.
- 4. Metalhawk - Yes, these were a disappointment - a tease of what they could have been. But nevertheless the little Pretender shells were fun to fiddle with. Metalhawk's my favourite because he has a clear visor, which not only echoes the look of the Pretenders from IDW's -ations series, but also because it means you can see the face of the Titan/Prime Master inside, which provides some interest when swapping figures around. The best/most disturbing one is Spike, from the Legends Bumblebee/Spike two-pack...
- 3. Slash - A new Dinobot! And a girl! And a really cute, well executed little figure, too. This was a travel companion staple of mine for some time. (She went to Middle Earth with me!)
- 2. Evolution Optimus Prime - As mentioned above, it's slightly lacking in the actual execution and really needs the Reprolabels sticker set to get the most out of the mold. But nevertheless, it was great to finally get a figure of the Sunbow Orion Pax after all these years, and the combined mode Optimus Prime is a solid figure that's fun to play with, and has a headsculpt which, for my money, is better than MP-10's.
- 1. Throne of the Primes Optimal Optimus - Already featured as my toy of the year for its year of release, so no surprise it's featured here. Optimus Primal, with a great couple of modes, a nice throne, and in great colours. This is one of the figures that has survived the pre-baby re-boxing, because I still fiddle with it a lot. Brilliant toy.

Grimlock was a bit off (and suffers due to lack of weapons) but the other 5 Dinobots are fab and look great as a group. I refuse to combine them, however!

I havent combined them because I dont have Grimlock.
I thought he looked a bit off so figured I'd wait for a sale that never came.
Ditto Inferno. Which is annoying me more as I want to make G2 Defensor.

4 of top 5 are there purely because getting them was a mini adventure that involved crossing state lines.
So Wave 1 deluxes (yes even Jazz, who is clearly Classic Classic Pretender Jazz) and er..... Blot

My #5 seems to be missing from the wiki list? 5. Galactic Man Shockwave - hadn't planned on picking up Shockwave at all, but this redeco was irresistible and I found out what a good toy this is after all. Could go for the purple version if the prices weren't already ridiculous. 4. Powertrain & High Jump - sturdiest Siege micros to date and my favourites until DH and PP turned up. 3. Spinister - that Transformation is a thing of beauty. Points deducted for not having proper mini targetmasters, though. 2. Direct-Hit & Power Punch - I'm not even sure why. Perfect updates, and I have a soft spot for the micromaster combiners. 1. Omega Supreme - his unyielding reserve has conquered me. Also his sheer size, very neat micromaster in Countdown, and being exactly what a modern Omega needed to be (wouldn't have hurt to have the tank be motorised or something though, or have a revolving turret) Bubbling under: Jetfire for having a near-perfect jet mode that I've been waiting for for 35-odd years, Ironhide has a great robot mode but a less inspired vehicle mode, ditto Soundwave, Springer looks great but isn't much fun to transform. EDIT: almost forgot Studio Series BB-OP - another one with a wonderful robot mode, but I'm not so keen on transforming him

Top 5 2019:
5 Siege Starscream. I love this mold.
4 Siege Ratchet/Ironhide At last! A decent, really decent, R/I mold.
3 Siege Astrotrain. Brilliant figure.
2 Siege Soundwave. Love me a space-brick. So Soundwave, looks amazing. Should've had Buzzsaw with him.
1 SIEGE OMEGA SUPREME. Utterly glorious. Perfection. Everything.
Bubbling under- Siege. All Siege. Hound, Sideswipe, Shockwave, Thundercracker, Mirage, Prime, Megatron. And, although he has faults, Siege Prowl. Superb apart from the gappy legs.
SIEGE!

Top 5 PotP:
THE TERRORCONS. 1 to 5, baby.
Brilliant BRILLIANT updates. Fantastic. Hun-Gar a little weaker than the four deluxes, but he's still excellent. Blot the best of the bunch. I love them.
Thought I answered this somewhere else...

This was the year (well, maybe the second year) I bought more Transformers than I was planning on doing (and indeed should have) so this was a tricky one, but here we go: - 5. Studio Series Dark of the Moon Megatron - Always loved this design, and despite the limited poseability of the figure this is a great interpretation, with an interesting transformation and A CAPE.
- 4. Siege Laserbeak - So small. So cute. So Arrival From Cybertron. So good.
- 3. Siege Impactor - Almost worth waiting 33 years for. So good to finally have a toy of this bastard, and it's a solid little toy, too.
- 2. Botbots Hamurai - He turns into a leg of meat and the bone pops out to become a sword. What's not to love?
- 1. Studio Series Bumblebee Optimus Prime - This is the perfect modernisation of the original Optimus Prime toy, and it blows the Siege versions clear out of the water. Easily the best G1-esque Prime for a long time. They can stop now. No. Really. They can stop.
And bubbling under, but also strong contenders, were Siege Jetfire (because of course), Battle Class Cyberverse Shockwave, Siege Ratchet (because OF COURSE) and the wonderful, the sexual Botbots Big Cantuna.

5) G2 Sideswipe Original was a nice toy, the G2 recolour is even nicer 4) Powerdasher Zetar Fab recolour with some clever extras to make the drill tank 3) Impactor All but perfect. Love the 5mm holes/hands swap 2) Ultra Magnus FINALLY done right with the cab becoming a robot and getting armoured up. The Galaxy Optimus Prime is nice too. 1) Omega Supreme Brilliant

Tricky this because Omega should be number one, but I don't feel I can add him having not actually opened him. I've only got five minutes with Phil's to go by.
5. Zetar. All three of these are great, but Zetar is the best. 4. Ectotron. Simply because of what it is. Spot on alt mode. 3. Refractor three pack. Unusual character to get a toy of and done really well as a set. 2. Astrotrain. Chunky solid robot and extra options with the base accessory. 1. Jetfire. Lots of toy, lots of features, looks bloody fantastic in both modes.
