Dinobots were either confirmed dead or lost, I can't remember which. Sunstreaker, Mirage, Wheeljack were confirmed dead. I believe basically any 84/85 autobot car we didn't get when they were on their reissue spree, no longer exists.
Soundwave was confirmed dead, but Takara saw fit to reverse engineer a g1 toy and recreate it. Hasbro will *not* recreate a destroyed mold. I think they feel they would rather design a new version from scratch, if they're going to go through all that. This is probably why we haven't gotten reissue dinobots. The Japanese never gave two shits about the dinobots (mp grimlock's apron/tray shows how little they think of him), and likely don't want to spend the time and resources to recreate them. And Hasbro just flat out won't.

I've got some recollection that Hound was reversed engineered too: he didn't feature in the convention/toys how reissue line in the early 2000s. I'll try and dig out an image of that.... Here we go: heroicdecepticon.blogspot.co.uk/2008/01/ehobby-goodness-hk-08.htmlLess in it than I thought. All the reissues involved are ones which toy could get multiples from the same basic mould.

Yup. I completed my Strike Planes lineup from that range, plus Ratchet and Ironhide. As with the Encore release those two were the cheapest in the after-market, while Sideswipe & Red Alert and Trailbreaker & Hoist commanded 3-4 times the price. Crazy days.

MP Grimlock had the tray/apron as a nice nod to cartoon fans. I fail to see how that infers any bad feelings from the toy company about the character considering how popular Sunbow is with the customer fanbase.

I'd clear your cache, sounds like you might be having a similar problem to what Ralph and I had with our iOS devices.

I said board instead of safari, which gave the wrong impression. I left safari to check a text, and when I came back it automatically reloaded the reply page, erasing everything I'd written. It does it so infrequently that I don't remember it until it's too late.

For reasons unknown to me, the dinobots just aren't popular in japan. They seem to regard them similarly to how western audiences tend to regard Wheelie, and other lesser desired transformers. Where as in the west, the dinobots were among the few to only characters to stay relevant in fiction through the entire course of the franchise. All the way from their origins, through to the very end of G2. Even during times there were no toys to promote. Grimlock got as many toys as Optimus Prime until g2, thanks to his popularity here. Very very few characters ever got more than one toy. In japan, they weren't very popular at all, and were dropped as soon as the toys were no longer around to be advertized. (As an example, if dinoforce was a thing here, the dinobots would have been brought in to be their rivals, with or without toys.) So, given all the accessory choices Takara could have given mp Grimlock, I think the fact that they gave him an apron and serving tray is pretty telling. The Crown and Sword (or was it his gun? One was omitted in lue of the apron/tray) were made specifically for the western fans (similarly to the G2 guns for sideswipe), and probably at the request of Hasbro. I could be misremembering, but I even believe Hasbro said at a botcon that Takara was the biggest stumbling block over getting an MP Grimlock made.

I don't have Blaster or Perceptor so I'll be pushing the boat out for those to go on my 85 shelf. Hope they're not too overpriced given the Insecticon situation. Wonder why we're getting a sudden rush of these. The encore line was much slower. It'd be nice too if they'd move on from the obvious and do some headmasters.

Never been a fan of Blitzwing, but then I have never had a minty fresh from box one. Astrotrain on the other hand I've always liked. Love the colours.
Were the Insecticons in crazy colours too?
I hope Trypticon has gone G2 and Blaster and tapes too.

Here's hoping for not Astrotrain/Blitzwing mentalness on these. By all means do an AOE coloured set, just get the proper ones out first.
