Would rather have had Sal on pencils. Milgrom is a good inker, but was never a fan of his pencils.

Some quality Grendel comics as well as a chunk of the Mark Millar Swamp Thingt run acquired at a comic mart yesterday.
Ralph fell on the Micromasters grenade - heh heh heh.

I was trying to find a definitive list of specials for the Eagle yesterday to get a feel for what I'm missing and stumbled across this site, which I don't think we've mentioned before? It has scans of a lot of old British comics; could be a useful resource. I've just been reading some of the UK originated strips for The Centurions. I vaguely remember having an odd issue of that back in the day. There may be some gems there that aren't available in any other format (A complete collection of Starblazer for a start!). britishcomics.wordpress.com

I do hope Dark Horse do reprints of those old MOTU UK comics. They were fab.

Ah ha! That site has a complete archive of Beeb magazine, which means I can finally read the end of the Tripods comic that twitter feed gave us the first nine parts of a year or so back!

Two posts up, Phil!
Beeb. Lasted twenty issues and died without warning, so unfortunately the Tripods strip didn't have a conclusion.

Frankly I think the warning signs had been there since issue one!

Having now flicked through a few issues, it isn't very good, is it? Not a patch on Look In. I'm not surprised Young Pinwig passed it by.

Looking at the covers there has given me quite a few moments of recognition. I have strong memories of things like "Neverworld!" from when I was but a Mini-Karl. Karl

The site also has the content from Action #37, the issue that never made it to the shops. It's fascinating comparing it to the eventual #38, which has the same strips but heavily edited and rearranged to take out the violent content. In the original #37 Hookjaw chomps a diver in half, but in #38 - same page re-edited - he gets away!

Had that.
Shiny paper - same as the first issue of X-Men Unlimited. Sadly not a perfect bound cover.

Prior to yesterday's meet up I popped into City Centre Comics for a few things, and the sprawling bric-a-brac shop beside it had a box that said comics. So I had to investigate, lots of 2000ad's - I may return at a future date to clear them out, and several of the Fleetway/Quality US reprints.
They had Rogue Trooper in it - I thumbed though and found that it had reprinted The ABC Warriors - The Black Hole in colour. How could I let these issues pass through my fingers. £5 poorer I had a good chunk of the Black Hole and a few Sam Slade's that had Ro-Busters and the Mars saga in them.

via the Comixology Marvel 2 for 1 last week I acquired Iron Man 129-157 to plug the gap between Demon in A Bottle (120-128) and the Enemy Within (158+). Some I'd read before: 142-144 & 152-153 are in Many Armours of Iron Man, 149-150 are in Doomquest and 131-132 & 151 are in Scott Lang Ant Man PLUS I'd read bits of 148-150 when they were reprinted in The Thing Is Big Ben and I've got most of 150+ in the long box from when I gathered in the Denny O'Neill run.
Good stuff throughout, David Michelinie knew how to write a comic book - the end is simultaneous to the start of his superb Star Wars run - and there's a vague connectedness between the mainly 1 & 2 issues stories. Excellent inks by Bob Layton throughout but it really shines n the issues pencilled by John Romita Jr: these really need to get Epic'd to reach a wider audience.

I've been meaning to grab a copy of this at some point, as it's been retconned into the first appearance of Apocalypse [in disguise].

Nope, from the wiki: The unnamed benefactor of the Living Monolith in Marvel Graphic Novel #17 (1985) was later identified as Apocalypse in disguise.

Earlier today Burns asked me to identify which Hulk issue a panel was from on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/PhilosophyMttrs/posts/2214627978636637I didn't immediately recognise it, assumed it was from an issue I didn't have and googled Hulk Socrates and Statue to find out. Turns out it's Hulk 226 marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Incredible_Hulk_Vol_1_226 .... which I *DO* have in Spider-Man UK 585 & 586, which I acquired earlier this year. That then got me going on which Hulk issues do I own and am I missing. Epics 1-4 contain Tales to Astonish 59-101 and Hulk 102-137 & Annual 1 (2-4 are reprints) Digital MMW 7-13 contain 138-222 & Annual 5-6 Spider-Man UK 579-592 contains Hulk 223-229 Spider-Man UK 602-603 contains Hulk 230 Spider-Man UK 607-608 contains Hulk 231 Spider-Man UK 609-610 contains Captain America 230 - crosses into Hulk 232 Spider-Man UK 611-622 contains Hulk 232-237 Champions Complete Collection contains Hulk Annual 7. Alpha Flight Omnibus contains Annual 8 * I'm missing missing 238-242 Issues 201, 204, 233, 236, 243, 244, Annual 9 * I can't find annuals 10 & 11, but I think I have at least 10 in the loft Mantlo Issues 245-268 Pardoned 269-285 Regression 286-300 & Annual 12 Crossroads 301-313 & Annual 13 Byrne Visionaries contains Incredible Hulk 314-319 & Annual 14 Issues 320-330 * I'm missing Annual 15, it's not on Comixology Peter David Visionaries 1-2 (have in floppy) contains 331-348 3-8 (oinly have digitally) contains 349-396 & Annuals 16-18 Epics 19-22 contain Hulk 397-458 & annuals 8-20 * Don't have 449-474, -1, Annual 97 or Hulk/Sub-Mariner Annual 98 So I'm missing 238-242 I can't find annuals 10 & 11, but I think I have at least 10 in the loft I'm missing Annual 15, it's not on Comixology Don't have 449-474, -1, Annual 97 or Hulk/Sub-Mariner Annual 98
