The latest set of back issue wonders arrived yesterday from Graham's Crackers. Amongst it were the remaining 4 Power Man Iron Fist issues to complete my run. I can see why it got canned, Jim Owsley had no idea. Dumped almost all of PM/IF's large supporting cast and replaced them with others. I read the final issue again and could reognise very few of the supporting cast in that. The feel was just wrong. The only issues that work are the ones where he sticks Luke and Danny in the Artic ! On the other hand the Kurt Busiek (sp?) issues around 100 are just gold. 100 itself is blinding, get a copy if you get the oppotunity. I'm pretty sure Priest(Owsley) copped to the same thing in his blog. A talented writer who wasn't a good fit to the title at that point in his career. Andy 12 years later I find the article in question: digitalpriest.com/legacy/comics/powerfist.html

Excellent, I do like Priest's writing, it's a shame he got the heave ho from GL in favour of Gerard Jones, for a great many reasons.
Did like his run in Action Comics with the big roidy evil Earth Lantern - Lord Malvolio.

I do so like the old coverbox's.
Greatly missed in comics.

Yes, it's a classic. We'll never see that likes of mad licensed stuff again.

Indeed.
I would pay good money for a collected Apeslayer! It's bonkers.

One day, if we are really lucky and Marvel run out of things to print.

Always amused me that you had a fill-in issue of Thor with Stan Lee doing the script.

A wee dip in the A1 back issue boxes saw me grab - Green Lantern 63-64 (Parallax versus Kyle, mullet Superman, hook handed Aquaman and WTF is he Hawkman among others) and Classic 2000ad issue 1 (America) and Issue 7 (Chopper - Song of the Surfer).

Almost fell down a 90's 2099 rabbit hole today, but I resisted.

Nice wee place in Newcastle inside one of their indoor markets and I always visit it when I am there.
This time nabbed a Marvel Spotlight 4, Captain Marvel some Archie Goodwin, Steve Ditko goodness. The LOTDK Watchtower trilogy with Mick McMahon art, Blue Devil 23 where he squares off against my other DC 80's hero - Firestorm, Uncanny X-Men 281 (for some reason I always end up tearing the covers on that one) and Uncanny X-Men 332
Earlier this week Force Works Issues 1-6 courtesy of Ebay.

Rather annoyingly, due to slight canine distraction and carelessness that Uncanny 281 cover has a tear in it already.
FFS!

Anyone else have a particular issue they always seem to tear/damage?

I honestly can't think of a comic I've bought more than one copy of.

Likewise. I'm sure there must be, and I know there are some trades where I have bought more than one copy over the years. But I'm hard-pressed to think of any single issues in that category.

The only ones that come to mind for me oddly are Generation 2 issues 6 and 8, but I don't know why I have two of those. I've got the same content in different forms, like floppies and graphic novels, but not the same issues.

There are certain comics I am fated to reacquire in a loop due to damage, house moves, regretful life decisions etc. Or in the case of Dreamwave's Micromasters series: an endless cursed forfeit.

Micromasters has become somewhat less present in the back issue bins at marts and cons I've been to recently.

At the UK comic swap meet - Zones issues 1 and 2 from LEM, which reprinted Swamp Thing, The Shadow and Wasteland. M.A.S.K. Holiday Special, Masters of the Universe Adventure Magazine 14 and He-Man Adventure Magazine 19 (first New Adventures He-Man).

M.A.S.K. Holiday Special
Good - some Ron Smith art to accompany a text story. One story has a blue plate alongside the black.
Bad - stories were fluff 5 pages of reader art. Taking the piss there IPC.

So I bought Spawn Issue 1 again, I remember buying this from Perth Indoor Market back in the day.
This could be a slippery slope.
